Walford Andrew (Drew) AUTIO

W. Andrew (Drew) Autio passed away Oct 5, 2023 at the young age of 66.

Walford Andrew, known to most simply as Drew was born and raised in Edmonton, AB.  He was adopted by his loving parents Margaret and Walford Autio. His love for motorcycles and cruising around the big city at a young age spurred an interest in mechanics which became his career for his entire life.  He enjoyed spending his free time travelling, cruising the streets, drag racing, or puttering around in cars and race cars.

He is survived by his three children Keith Autio, Kirk (Lori) Autio, Jeanine (Blair) Hughes, and his 8 grandchildren; Adrianna,  Parker, Mikai, Owen, Ethan, Connor, Fletcher and Olivia.

It was his love of cars that surrounded him with many of his friends who he held dearly close to his heart.  Drew always had a big heart and an even bigger laugh that could be heard anywhere in the movie theater or likely within a 2 mile radius.  Never one to shy away from adventure, he often travelled with those he loved and shared in the fond memories of those bonding moments.

Grandpa cars will be missed by many.  There are no funeral arrangements at this time.

I met Drew in the 90’s when I needed a transmission repaired for my tow vehicle.
We shared an interest in mechanical things, enjoyed each other’s friendship and had a many dinners together at the Sawmill.
Drew was always quick with a joke, has a great laugh, was supportive of me in my endeavors, always there for some advice, or a compliment. Even though we traveled different paths, and grew apart, I always considered Drew a good friend and knew he’d be there if I ever needed him.
You are in my thoughts and will be missed my friend.
My condolences to his family and friends.

Drew was the only person I knew that would say “You’re lookin’ mighty fine young fella” on a phone call or “if I was any better, I’d be you!” He had fierce curiosity and No fact was taken as gospel – Drew was not afraid to challenge conventional thinking and was a fearless innovator. He was proud of his trans brakes and superchargers. I will miss our breakfasts and ponderings. Rest in peace Drew
