Carol BISHOP

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Carol Louise Bishop (Russell) on Sunday, 1 January 2023 at the age of 76 at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. Loving Mother of Shawn Bishop and family, Shannon Bushie and family and Dana Thomson and family. Dear Sister of Martin Russell, Kathryn Hill and late Steven Russell. Sadly missed by several grandchildren, nieces and nephews and cousins. 

Carol was born on 1 June 1946 in St. Thomas, Ontario, daughter of the late Dorothy Russell (Martin) and late Oral Russell, also of St. Thomas, Ontario.

Carol grew up in St Thomas surrounded by close family. She attended Teacher’s College in London, Ontario and began her career in Teaching in London. Carol lived in many places in her lifetime including Strathroy, Ontario, Burlington, Ontario, Richmond, British Columbia, Brampton, Ontario, St Thomas, Ontario, Georgetown, Ontario, Aurora, Ontario, Bradford, Ontario, Pickering, Ontario, Airdrie, Alberta, Calgary, Alberta, Didsbury, Alberta, Stony Plain, Alberta, Egypt, Cadotte Lake, Alberta, and Sudbury, Ontario.

Carol’s passion was for teaching. She found purpose in working with special needs children, especially those from the indigenous communities of Northern Alberta. Carol also worked for several years at Kerrisdale Cameras in Richmond, BC where she was able to explore her love of photography.

Carol’s hobby for her entire adult life was weaving. She loved to create at her loom and spin wool with her spinning wheel. Carol also had a love for the outdoors, nature, and travel.

She will be missed, but her legacy will live on through all those whose lives she touched.
