Katie Eve GRENCI

It is with great sadness that the family of Katie Eve Grenci (Turcsanyi) announces her passing.

Katie passed peacefully on January 26th, 2023, surrounded by the people she cherished most in this world. She is survived by the love of her life, Cosmo, her daughter Sabrina (AJ), her son Daniel, her grandsons Dominic, Ronan and Austin, siblings George and Suzanne, as well as multiple nieces and nephews.

Katie was born on March 24, 1959, to parents George and Katie. They had immigrated here from Hungary and she was the last of the five children they would have. Katie, along with her brother Jerry, were born in Cranbrook BC. and when she was two her family relocated to Chilliwack, where she grew up. Katie later moved to Edmonton, AB as an adult, where she built her life and raised her children.

Katie was a kind soul. A hug from her could make all worries melt away. When she was needed, she showed up. She stood by, sat with, and slept next to her siblings in their final weeks and days. Katie enjoyed family gatherings and loved a good family party. She made the best chicken anyone could ask for, landing its own namesake: Aunt Molly’s Famous Chicken. Katie persevered through life’s difficulties, and she taught her children to do the same. She loved her family, she loved her dogs, she loved to dance, and most of all, she loved her grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Katie’s name to Alzheimer’s Society of Edmonton or the Cross Cancer Institute.

A funeral service for Katie will be held Thursday February 16th at 11:00 am at Beulah Alliance Church,  17504 98a Ave NW, Edmonton.

I always liked Katie. We hung out as teenagers from time to time. She was a great girl. Sorry for your loss.
