David James HAGEN

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the tragic and sudden passing of David James Hagen (38) on May 28 2022. David (or Dave as many of his friends knew him) was born in Daysland, AB June 22 1983 and lived in Bawlf AB until the family moved to Swan Hills in 1989 where he attended school until graduating in 2001.

David always enjoyed working with his hands and was happiest (and could most often be found) covered in grease and dirt working on any and all kinds of vehicles or relaxing watching one of his favorite war movies (no matter how many 100s of times he had watched them). Despite serious allergies and asthma that he had dealt with most of his life he dearly loved his “fur siblings”. He always had a sharp wit and usually had a mischievous grin. Always up to share another joke or funny story. He was the kind of guy who was always the first to stop and help someone on the side of the road or willing to stop whatever he was doing to help a friend in need (whether they were a cute blonde or not).

We are certain that right now his Grandma Cadden is lecturing him and his cousin Cory on the errors of their ways. But once he’s done listening, his Uncle Dan will be more than happy to retell the “round and round” story that he loved so much. He will finally get to go fishing with his Grandpa Jack again and he can start trying to figure out what kind of engines heaven has that he can work on.

David is survived by his parents Alex and Pat Hagen, brother Brandon, sister-in-law Shiella, nephew Jordan, numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and countless friends.

We ask that you keep his memory alive in your words and deeds and remember to be a Samaritan to all of God’s creations.

We will be saying our final good-bye to David privately. In lieu of a lunch/coffee gathering, we (the immediate family) are providing a donation to Neighborlink Parkland (https://neighborlinkparkland.ca). We are asking that in lieu of flowers or the gas money that would be spent to gather, that you donate the money in his memory to there or a charity of your choice.

Corey Pendrak and I both have fond memories of Dave. I know him as my neighbor for a number of years through elementary and jr. High at Swan Hills School and Corey was also friends with Dave after he moved to Barrhead. We are both so sad to hear of his passing and give our deepest most sincere sympathy and condolences to his close friends and family.

Alex, Pat & Brandon – our hearts are heavy with the news of David’s passing. Whenever we think of David, we remember the fond times of our children growing up together, the fun and the mischief, the love and the laughter we all shared. We always considered both Brandon and David as our sons too. Our family is now smaller with David’s passing. We will cherish these memories. We love you all.
