Robert Alexander MILES
Robert Alexander Miles was born September 11, 1943, in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Robert joined The Royal Canadian Air Force in 1961 and trained as an Electronic Technician at the age of 17 years. He took an early release after over 17 plus years of service. He then worked for the Alberta Government Telephone Co (AGT) for several years until the company became Telus. He was in the first round of layoffs with Telus. Robert, always planning ahead saw a future in towers and cell phones. Together with another layoff victim and former RCAF colleague they started a business called “Expert Mobile Communications” in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The business was very successful. Within a couple of years, they took on another partner. Growing quickly another partner joined the group. Robert retired at the age of 60 to enjoy his senior years. A longing for the east coast (home), he and his wife moved to Burlington, Nova Scotia overlooking the Bay of Fundy. They spent 10 years in Nova Scotia, returning to Alberta in 2013 to be close to their son and grandchildren.
Robert will be sadly missed by his wife Thelma of 56 years, son Michael (Tracy), granddaughters Shayna, Kayla (Adrian) and great granddaughter Aspen, brothers: Phillip of Nova Scotia, William (Bill) of Alberta and sister Pauline of Massachusetts, U.S.A.
He was predeceased by his parents Walter P and Veronica (Werenka) Miles of Nova Scotia, sisters Sophie O’Neill of Nova Scotia, Elizabeth Fox of Nova Scotia, niece Melanie O’Neill of British Columbia and Aunt Shirley Werenka of Nova Scotia.
Robert’s proudest moments were watching his son become the man he is today and the wonderful family he so reluctantly leaves.
Robert knew many people through the RCAF, AGT, Telus, Expert Mobile. Acquaintances or friends, everyone found him to be kind, thoughtful, helpful and a true gentleman at all times.

We are sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. Our first meeting with the Miles family began in Holberg BC in 1973. Time was spent in Beaverlodge AB from 1979 to 1986. Many fun memmories fill in the years. At this time we are thinking of Thelma and Michael and his family. May remembering all the happy times make Bob’s passing easier.

Bob left such a lasting impression of patience, intelligence with a wicked sense of humour. His quip, Bob’s your uncle. I cherish those memories of Halifax, Vegas, your home in beautiful Nova Scotia and visits to Sudbury. Those were happy times the four of us touring and laughing. Take care Thelma. Love to the family.
