Douglas Owen PIGEON

We the family of Douglas Owen Pigeon, born Aug 10 1962, are saddened to announce his passing on July 14th 2023.

Doug was born in Vancouver BC, to Irene and Hazen Pigeon. He was the second oldest of four children. He had three sisters (Debbie,Dory and Doren). The family moved to Edmonton when he was young. When they were young Deb took Dory under her wing and when Doren was born Doug took her under his. All Four were close but the bond and love Doug and Doren shared will always be there.

He was a loving husband to his wife Terri and a great father to his two sons Shane (Nicole) and Travis(Kelly). He was also a proud grandfather to his three grandchildren Hazen, Tristan and Josie who he often referred to as his sunshine.

Doug worked hard to support his family, working two jobs and leading to long days. In his time off he enjoyed going to the horse races and loved his trips to Las Vegas. Some of his other hobbies included playing video games, collecting hockey cards, and looking after his tropical fish tanks. He loved music. Everything from AC/DC to Mozart. But his favourite will always be Pink Floyd.

Some of his favourite memories were the family trips to Smithers BC to visit family and fish and pick huckleberries(Much to Shane’s disappointment). When asked what his favourite memory was with Terri, he simply said it was having his two boys. Doug loved getting together with the family and always ended up hanging out with all his nephews at some point in the evening to tell his latest inappropriate joke that he had heard. He had an amazing sense of humour and an infectious laugh that will not soon be forgotten.

Doug will be greatly missed by all that loved and knew him.

As per Doug’s wishes, the family will be having a small private celebration of life in honour of Doug.
