Wayne Vic RAMSBOTTOM

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of Wayne Ramsbottom.

Wayne loved his family and is survived by wife Marie and his son’s Josh and Jason Ramsbottom.

He leaves behind numerous grandchildren including CodyXyleeraMiaMorgan and Everett along with Darien and Laura and his great-grandchild Evangeline.

He also left a legacy of caring for people and welcomed many into his household over the years when they needed it including, Sharron, RickJason Clarke and Bruce Marshall.   These people, along with so many others became an extension of his family.

Wayne had a lifelong passion for trains and railways. He was notorious for starting railway layouts throughout the house but will be remembered lovingly for never finishing one that his kids and grandkids could actually enjoy and play with!

The joy he had was in designing different layouts and combinations and the joy of building with his hands. He had an incredible passion for collecting (which he passed down to his kids and grandkids) and adding to his immense train collection.

He will always be remembered for being able to fix anything… the phrase “give it to gramps and he will fix it” is well known among all his grandkids and the garage is filled with boxes and bins for tools and nick-knacks that he kept on the odd chance something could be used again.

Wayne loved being outdoors and building things, including truck campers, house extensions, garages, and more basement renovations than any family should ever need. He always overbuilds and many of his additions will live beyond the structures he added them to.

My dad was my hero and taught me so very much about what is it to be a man and a good human being. While he often came across as gruff and anti-social… he cared deeply about doing what was right and helping others.

The family will be holding a private ceremony in the summer to remember him and there is a very good chance a train or railway will be involved in some way.

Sorry to hear about Wayne’s passing but I guess we all get older. I knew Wayne and Maria way back in Vancouver, BC days when we worked together and camped around in his camper…Still have one of Maria’s early paintings of a sail boat in my home. Best to the family, I am sure he will be missed, great guy.
