Gregory (Greg) George RANKS
Greg Ranks came into this world on April 19, 1960 and made a courageous departure on April 28, 2022.
In the span of those 62 years Greg accomplished many things and in his own words he “had a good life”.
Greg leaves behind his heartbroken wife and partner in life of almost 30 years Reneé Ranks, his cherished son Curtis Ranks along with his two children Kyler and Madisyn. His sisters Lori Lambert and Kelly (Ashley) Van Camp as well as his “favorite mother-in-law” Judy Rivard. His brother in laws Ray (Jodi) Rivard and Russ (Darlene) Rivard. “Uncle Greg” leaves 8 nieces and nephews behind that will miss his funny antics, silly t-shirts and talks as well as 9 great nieces and nephews and of course many friends.
Greg was predeceased by his parents Dorothy & George Ranks and his father-in-law Lawrence Rivard
He will be deeply missed by all that had the privilege to know him as Greg was larger than life. He always had encouraging words and a positivity than shone through even on the darkest days.
Greg fought a fast and ferocious battle with cancer. When he was diagnosed in Aug 2021 he vowed to fight as hard as he could…and he did!
Greg was strong, courageous, gentle, funny, and so very loving to anyone who was lucky enough to have him in their lives and he handled the past eight months with grace, strength, and integrity. He was what one would call a “solid man”.
Greg is well known for the business he ran for the past 27 years. Diesel Component Rebuilders became a well-known name in the Oilfield sector. He built an amazing reputation in the industry and was highly valued and respected for his knowledge, fairness, patience, and kindness.
Greg loved hockey, sailing, quadding, his precious truck and quiet nights by the campfire.
He will be truly missed by all who loved him and will forever be in our hearts.
A very special thanks to Dr. Naresh Jha at the Cross Cancer Institute for your wisdom, kindness and all the incredible stories! And to Dr. Omar Abdelsalam at the Cross Cancer Institute for your calming ways and encouraging words.
Nurse Josh at the Mazankowski Heart Institute.. You and Greg formed an immediate bond with your similar wit and humour. You made a couple of his days so much better with the laughs he so enjoyed.

Renee and family we are absolutely heartbroken to hear of Greg’s passing. He was such an approachable, gentle, kind and friendly man. Always loved to see his smiling face every time we had the chance to cross paths. So sorry for your loss he was definitely one of the good ones.
Renee, Curtis, and family, I am deeply saddened to hear of Gregg’s passing. I always enjoyed our conversations and lunch get togethers with some of his engine rebuilding friends. Gregg was a great help to me during my racing years with sponsorship and teaching me a few tricks. I will miss his laugh, his quick wit, his friendship and advice. He was a great friend and will be missed. Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. Heartfelt thoughts go out to you in this time of sorrow.

I’m sad to hear of the passing of Greg , I met him when I was 11yrs old , we lost contact with each other , which I deeply regret. My condolences to his family.

Dear Reneé,Curtis and family – I was truly saddened by the news of Greg’s passing! I knew him through my many years of employment with Goldmark Diesel! His gentle voice and his larger than life smile will never be forgotten. Spent many hours on the phone taking orders, and great in person visits at our shop. He always had a minute to chat and his happy manner always left us smiling! His wealth of knowledge will leave a huge hole in the industry and the “Patch” will not be the same without him. My prayers and hugs are with you all! We now have another angel to watch over us!

I just heard from an old customer that Gregg had passed away.
Shocked & saddened was the terrible feeling…
We had lot of things in common, and over the many years of doing business,I had come to know him as a really good man.
Always positive, honest and lots of stories to share.
I had talked to him last around about April.
We shared Cancer stories .
His weak raspy voice on the phone told me he was having trouble.
