Constance Leslye RICHARDSON

Constance Leslye Richardson (nee Orr)
March 21, 1931 – April 26,2023

On April 26, 2023, Mom passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side.
Mom was predeceased by her Father, Mother, sister and brother. She lost her grandson Danny in 2003 and the love of her life Bill in 2011. She is survived by sons Keith (Donna) and Garry (Ketsri), and daughters Donna (Clint) and Sandy (Dale). Mom has 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She also has numerous nieces and nephews as well. We will all miss her dearly.

She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to William Alexander and Alice Mary Orr. Mom loved the many summers spent with her family including sister Joan and brother Frank at their Grand Beach cottage.

After the passing of her father, Mom had to leave high school to help support her family. She worked in many offices and was very proud of her speed on the comptometer which was the first push button calculator.

In the summer of 1953, Connie met Glen Barrie Richardson on a blind date, they fell in love and were married October 10 that year. Dad loved her sparkly blue eyes and her bubbly personality. Nine months and six days later their first son, Donald Keith was born; Garry James followed in 1956. In 1957 Donna Lynne was born and two years later Sandra Joan completed the family. The family moved often while
Glen was in the RCAF, from Alberta to Ontario and then Quebec, settling in Winnipeg in 1970.

In 1977 Mom was divorced and spent time working and going to the Jazz Club. She had many friends and loved dancing. Family was also very important to Mom and she spent countless days enjoying them at Lee River and then Nutimik Lake.

Mom loved shopping trips to Grand Forks, ND with all her girls and the trips to Mahnomen with Donna. She also loved baking for her family, buns being her specialty. Mom was a fabulous knitter, making afghans for family and friends. In later years she donated hundreds upon hundreds of hats and children’s sweaters for the less fortunate.

1991 was an excellent year for Mom, she met Bill Chernetsky. Bill was the love of her life and they had over 20 years of bliss. They spent as much time as possible at Bill’s cottage at Nutimik Lake, all 4 seasons. Mom & Bill’s excellent adventures included a cruise to northern Europe and a cruise to Alaska with Bill & Keith; and a cross Canada road trip. Her favourite destination was the Cook Islands including
Aitutaki with son Garry. We were all blessed to share Mom’s 80 th birthday in Orlando spring of 2011.

Following Bill’s passing in 2011 Mom moved to Alberta to be closer to her 4 children. She lived 7 years with Sandy & Dale before moving into a retirement home in her late 80’s. Mom’s final resting place will be in Winnipeg alongside Bill.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.

My sympathy to all of Connie’s family. Frank & I always enjoyed our visits with Connie & Bill. Their visit with us at the lake was wonderful. They enjoyed all their travels and so interesting listening to their comments.
