Helen Schickerowsky

Helen Schickerowsky (nee Beleshko) of Edmonton, Alberta passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 3 in her home at Melrose Court at the age of 90 years. She leaves behind to mourn her passing, daughter Colleen Anderson, son Chris (Shirley) Nimko, stepdaughters: Mona (Peter) Ferguson and family, Shelley Olsonberg and family, step-son Cory (Karen) Schickerowsky and family, her forever loved grandson Dallas Anderson. Also, very dear to her heart, Kelly and Miko Caputo and family, David Bishop, niece Kathy Will, nephews Doug, Brian and Terry Romaniuk and their families, nephews Harry and Ken Beleshko and their families, Walter Dimitryk and family.

Helen was predeceased by her parents Stephan and Alexandra, brothers John and Bill, sisters Pauline and Anne, her beloved husband and best friend Conrad Schickerowsky who lost his battle to mesothelioma in December 1996.

Helen loved to cook, bake and entertain family and friends. Give her a recipe, some pots and pans and simply get out of her kitchen.

Helen was a lifetime member of the Legion of Frontiersman. A very special thank you to all of the members for their comforting words, kindness and friendship and honoring her by lowering the flag to half-mast.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 27th at 11:30 a.m. at Strahcona Legion Branch 150, located at 9020-51 Avenue, Edmonton. Cremation has taken place.
