Lucille Joy SHAW
It’s with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Joy Shaw.
Joy passed away October 11, 2023, peacefully at the Misericordia Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. Joy leaves behind her son Steve Shaw (Erin White), daughter Kari Hayward (Mark Hayward), grandsons: Christopher (Alexa) and Devin as well as many nieces and nephews.
Joy was a special lady who was loved and admired by many. She spent 22 years as the director of the student’s association at Grant McEwan University and during her time there she became a mentor to many. She was admired by her peers and was given the wall of distinction award for her role in the development of the Griffins Athletic Club.
Joy will always be remembered for her love and passion for gardening, her strength, and the love she had for her family. Joy touched all of our hearts in so many ways and she will forever be missed.
A celebration of life for Joy will take place and a date will be determined in the near future.

I will miss seeing her out and about at the meadows. I knew Joy for many years she was a very strong and amazing person.
Joy was honestly one of the best people I’ve ever met. Down to earth, strong, and just all around good.
I worked with Joy for many years at MacEwan back when it was called Grant MacEwan College. She was a great person to work with and for, and those were some of the most best years I have had working. She will be missed by many many students and staff.
