Gerald Franklin PETHERBRIDGE

It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald (Jerry) Petherbridge announces his  passing on the evening of January 5th, 2026. He passed away peacefully surrounded in  the love and loudness of his family that he cherished so much.

Jerry now is reunited with his daughter Kimberly, but leaves behind his beloved wife  Lynne, children- Kathy, Dale, Wendy (Wade) and Jill (James) as well as a cherished  legacy through his grandchildren: Tina (Jason), Dustin (Kaarina), Shayne (Brooke),  Chad (Alanis), Sutton, Trinity, Adilynne, Celina and 8 great-grandchildren: Peyton,  Shae, Olivia, Elijah, Charlie, Oliver, Nicole, and Nixon.

Born as a preemie in Edmonton on December 23, 1940 weighing 2lbs 7ounces to  parents Frank and Phyllis Petherbridge, Jerry grew up in Edmonton with his older  brother Dave, and younger brother Ray. Being a motivated hard worker, he started his  career as an automotive Technician early in life after grade nine. He excelled in the  trade becoming a journeyman technician at the age of 21. His most noted workplace  was the Ford dealership here in Edmonton, and his many sidelines for friends and  family that he did in the off hours. His career spanned an incredible 50 years!

Jerry met the love of his life Lynne early in life, they married July 15th 1961 and together  created a loving connected family.

Jerry was very active through his life, and loved to travel; he was an avid golfer often  traveling with his brothers and friends to phoenix, and some times “Veggy” (Las Vegas) for golf trips. He enjoyed bowling, curling, skiing, quadding, dirt biking, and many  snowmobiling trips at the lake and to the mountains!

He loved to be amongst his friends and family in a crowded room or at the lake by a  bonfire with laughter, songs, and jokes! Jerry led a full family centered life, he coached  Kathy’s baseball team, took us kids back to work with him, drove to piano lessons every  week for many years, participated in the silly activities, watched us kids’ performances and concerts, was a delivery driver for Genesis, visited all of us while he was out and  about getting his fresh “dodo’s” (doughnuts with chocolate icing) from Sobeys. Every  year he made sure that we had a family vacation, the earlier years was most often in  Penticton, and the later years were at the lake with two family road trips to Disney!

He was always one call away, and always showed up for us. Jerry’s welcoming friendly  demeanour and easy-going personality will be deeply missed by many.

The family is planning a celebration of life on January 19th, 2026 at Eaglemont Christian  Church, 5002 62 street in Beaumont AB at 12:30 pm. There will be a light luncheon and  time to visit following the service at the same location. We hope you will be able to join  us to celebrate the wonderful person that he was.

We would like to thank the care givers at Chateau Vitaline in Beaumont for their  exceptional care and compassion. In lieu of flowers we would ask for a donation to the  Alzheimer’s Society of Canada where a donation can be made for dementia research.
