Now that that is out of the way my journey started 2.5 weeks ago(Aug 19, 2024) when my world came crashing down because I lost my son Angus (32). I was inquiring with several funeral homes about pricing and what they offered and Point West was my 3rd company I called. Immediately when I spoke to Garry I felt like I wasn’t just dealing with a business I was dealing with someone who cared. Now It’s a running joke in my family that I’m obsessed with reviews that others have written about businesses or products that I am looking at, and I understand now after working with Garry why they had a 5 star rating when I was on the website. With no funeral arrangement before the passing of our great grandmother on July 1st, I found Pointe West through google search. I was doubt to call as early as 7:30am and to my suprised Garry picked up the phone and with no hesitation he listened to all of my questions and inquiries because I got 0 knowledge about the process. He explained everything that has to be done and what necessary paperworks are needed throughout the process. He is a guy sent from above that made me and my husband feel so cared about and treated us a like a family in these hard times. All of the arrangements were handled with care and professionally even after their business hours. They never missed an opportunity to update us in every step of the process up until the arrival of our loved one in the Philippines.
Choosing them was one of the best decision we’ve ever made. They went beyond our expectations and they really made this difficult time easy for us.

We found out about you through dear friends who’s son was dying and chose you to look after the final details. Having small children, you offered him the opportunity to have a coffin his children could colour on. His parents shared with mine what a remarkable journey they had with you.
When my father passed our choice was clear based on the kind experience their family had with you. What could have been morbid was instead a joyful experience of the grandchildren all drawing and sharing memories of their grandfather. Leaving letters on his heart and all of us moving through our grief in the hands of you and your family. You didn’t miss a detail. A fishing reel urn custom made for my dad who was a serious fisherman. A photo slide show completely done by your daughter that we couldn’t cope with and couldn’t have done better. The programs Kristin made for us were beautiful with watermarked pictures of his favourite place at the west coast, and poems that touched our hearts. She had great editing skills parring down his obituary to fill in the program. Visits with you and cups of tea. Your jokes even though we were pretty stunned the first few visits and missed a few lol. You were patient and kind. Full of knowledge and helpful information. Your presence at the celebration of life helping make sure every detail was perfect. We want to tell the whole world about you. And when we got the bill my mom thought it couldn’t be right. Funerals have a reputation for being notoriously expensive. Your bill was unbelievably fair. That’s how much we valued everything you did to help our family through this difficult time. Everything about Pointe West was perfect. From Garry and his family being so accommodating, compassionate, and understanding, to the signs we received from our loved one that let us know we were making the right choice. It's a family business that is in the business of taking care of your family first. It's hard to trust Funeral homes with our loved ones but a minute with Garry and we knew we were in the right place. We had a tight turnaround of getting our mom back home to BC and they ensured we had everything we needed to get it done. Would totally recommend Pointe West cremation and funeral home to anyone who has recently experienced a death of a loved one. Garry and his family made me feel very informed and supported while making my fathers arrangements, even though I'm sure I was mess as this was my 1st experience doing so. Garry knows how to make you feel totally comfortable while explaining everything, and he also didn't upsell the products or services, he actually tries to saves you money it seemed. The prices were also amazing compared to all other funeral homes I phoned, I almost couldn't believe the cost difference. I'm so pleased we went with Pointe West, definitely no regrets.

Garry and family were amazing to deal with. I personally have never had to help with the planning process when a loved one passes. Garry answered all my questions anytime I called, made my mom feel at ease during the whole process after losing the love of her life. We were never felt rushed, in fact it was the opposite everything was on our timeframe. Open, honest and upfront on the fees, no hidden costs. No one ever wants to lose a loved one, but having a place like Pointwest to help with the process, with the care and compassion they have does make the process easier.

Garry did a very professional job in explaining all of the steps without any sales pressure tactics. They don't even charge extra for pick up during evening hours from the hospice. This is about a month over due, but I cannot express how amazing our experience with Point West was. Garry was an absolute treasure to go through our loss with. He had the capacity to read the room and provide us with a personable experience that I will never forget. We had a death earlier in the year as well where we ended up using a different facility for the funeral and it was night and day for out experience. Garry and his family made us feel so welcome, as if we were apart of their family. Also, the price difference was astronomically more reasonable at Pointe West then our previously dealt with funeral home. Their facility was very clean, organized and welcoming and was able to host about 30 of us comfortably if it was required. We were told arrangements could be made to host as many people as necessary but in this case it was not needed. I would 100% recommend Pointe West to anybody unfortunate enough to experience a passing. Hopefully I never have to see Garry again, on a professional level, but if I do they will forever be my families first choice. Thanks again.

At the beginning of February we lost my grandmother, it was very sudden and quite devastating to my family. We had called around to a couple funeral homes for a simple cremation no service or anything extra as these were my grandmothers wishes. The places we called were straight to business when we called and explained our situation during my search for services for my grandmother I came across point west and when we called to inquiry Gary was so warm and welcoming he actually asked my mom about her relationship to my grandmother said he was sorry for our loss and was so completely accommodating. After we met with Gary to talk about the details we felt so happy with our decision to go with point west and know my grandmother would have loved Gary and his values. The entire process Gary and his family were so patient and didnt make the whole thing feel like a business transaction. It really shows that they care about their customers and taking the time and care that they do to make sure everyone is accommodated and happy with their services is totally priceless. I don’t believe we would have had such a positive experience any where else honestly. Our family has decided Gary and his family will be who we reach out to for any future funeral services. I cannot say enough amazing things about Gary and his family. Thank you so much for making such a difficult time in our lives a little bit easier.

Garry, his family and his entire team were so good to me and our entire family. We recently lost our father last week and Pointe West was just soo accommodating, so sympathetic and full of compassion in everything that they did. Gary and his family, treated my grandmother with so much dignity and respect. They treated me with the utmost care and kindness from their hearts and it was real not a fake sorry for your loss, no sales pitch no pressure of forcing you in to something you cant afford, no treating you like your just a number in their book. They hold your had threw the process especially when you didn't have a plan and you never had to go threw this process alone before. They think of every detail, I would hands down recommend Pointe West to anyone that needs their service even at the last minute because your circumstances changed. From my family to theirs I cant thank them enough.

My brother unfortunately passed away on December 4th, of 2020. My family and myself were devastated of his passing and Garry, Kristine, Madison, and Jacob, took us under their care and have made my family at ease and peace with his passing. They are such a great family and they care so much for those who have passed. They are loving, compassionate, and so humble to our family and others. Garry & his family at Pointe West Funeral Home & Crematorium far surpassed all our expectations for their services. Personally, they were kind and warm during difficult situations and conversations. Professionally, they excelled at planning and organizing our loved one’s viewing & service. Not only were we happy with what services & products they could offer, but their costs were extremely reasonable and fair. I would recommend their funeral home to any one of my friends & family. Thank you to them for making a tough time a little easier to deal with.
