Linda Marie BABYAK (nee Barbazuk)

It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Babyak (Barbazuk) on August 11, 2024, after a short battle with cancer, at her home in Edmonton.

Linda was born in Edson on January 4, 1961, to Ed & Ann Barbazuk, where she went to school and lived until her early adulthood, when she moved to Edmonton.

Linda was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Anna Barbazuk, brother Lyall Edward Barbazuk, grandparents Hans & Martha Affolter and Alex & Mary Barbazuk, and brothers-in-law: Larry Bowness and Rob Theaker.

Linda is survived by her loving husband Ken Babyak; two sisters Laurie Barbazuk and Leslie Bowness (Simon); half sister Carol Theaker; stepdaughters Brooke Babyak and Rhys Bearchell, two granddaughters Jemma Drake and Iva Babyak and grandson Lyndan Gates, and her much loved dog, Fin.

Linda had unconditional love for her dogs and all animals in her life. She was hard working, dedicated, loving and trustworthy. She was the best friend anyone could ask for. She sent the best cards and gifts – always personalized and funny and if you were the recipient of one, you looked forward to them each year. She was very organized and took pride in a clean home, a nice yard and taking care of her husband Ken.

She has left 63 years of amazing memories for all the friends and family who shared those years of good times, bad times, fun times and so many laughs with her. She definitely left an impression wherever she went

She chose to not have a service, and her ashes will be spread by a trusted friend “Who will know where to spread them.”

Until we meet again Linda, keep laughing. We love you and miss you, and your memory will always bring a big smile. Thank you for all the joy and laughter you brought us.

Gone way too soon. 😔 Linda always brought such a spark to any group, and gave us so many laughs and great memories. I can remember more than one childhood mishap (misstep?) where Linda, Lyall and I added to Uncle Ed and Auntie Anna’s grey hairs! I will treasure the memories of her, and offer my sincere condolences to all of the family. ❤️
