Jo Ann Elizabeth BARNES

It is with great sadness that the family of Jo Ann Barnes announces her passing on December 25, 2025, at the age of 70.

Jo Ann will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Jenny (husband Stewart, daughter Maryn), son Clint (wife Rachel, daughter Ryen, son Josh), mother Betty, and brothers Bill, Randy, Ken (wife Sandra, daughter Madison) as well as numerous other family and friends.

Jo Ann was predeceased by her husband Rod and father Raymond.

Jo Ann was born in Drumheller and later moved to Red Deer. She graduated from Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School and began working as a telephone operator for AGT. After marrying Rod and moving their young family to Leduc, AB Jo Ann began dispatching emergency services for the City of Leduc. Their free time was devoted to cheering on their kids at sports games and dance competitions. Jo Ann retired from the Leduc Community Hospital as an Admitting Clerk in Diagnostic Imaging in 2019. She spent her retirement happiest in her garden, studying her family’s genealogy and spending as much time with her grandkids as possible.

In keeping with Jo Ann’s wishes a private family ceremony will be held after which a luncheon will be held on January 9, 2026, from 2-4pm at the Red Deer Moose Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation or to the charity of one’s choosing.

We sure will miss our wonderful neighbor, our chats over the fence, shared shoveling. Our sympathies to her family and friends
