Myrtle Audrey BARNETT
Myrtle was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma, aunt, great aunt and even a great-great aunt.
Mom was born in Killams Mills on June 27, 1930. in New Brunswick to Wilfred and Laura Killam. She passed away on May 26, 2022 in Spruce Grove, Alberta. At a very early age mom was known through the county (especially by the local preacher) for her biscuits, as he made sure to be on hand at mealtime for a taste.
Myrtle also had another talent. At about the age of 8 or 9, she was the boss to 4 very large Belgian horses that she would drive out to the fields on the farm. In 1949, mom followed a man named Donald Barnett to North Bay, Ontario where on November 2, 1949, they were married. Mom and dad were blessed by the Lord with four children: Sandy (Norm) Walsh, Peter (Anne) Barnett, Barb (Len) Enns and Lorraine Barnett. Myrtle and Don were also blessed with a granddaughter, Anita Barnett.
To greet mom into Heaven are her husband Don and eldest daughter Sandy.
Mom’s greatest joy and pleasure were her God given talents as hostess and caterer for her family, friends, church, and other activities. The last seven years, dementia was a constant plague for her. It became impossible for mom to be on her own and she moved in with Lorraine. A few weeks ago, mom she needed to get to the kitchen as there was planning to do for a dinner. I told her that there were other ladies and men who were now in charge as she had been promoted to “Professor of Catering”. I said you are now the teacher, and you don’t have to do the work anymore, and that the younger people were going to do the hard work, but we can go and supervise. “Mom said that’s a great idea as I am getting too old to do all that work!”
There will be a coffee time at Peter, Anne and Anita’s house for memories and rejoicing that mom is in the arms of her Lord and Saviour.
Coffee and snacks will be at
139 Greystone Drive, Spruce Grove on Friday, June 17, 2022, at 7:00 p.m.
