April 25, 1953 – June 26, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen Louise Bass-Meldrum U.E., who transitioned from this life to life everlasting on June 26, 2026, at the age of 73.
Born in Guelph, Ontario, Louise—as she was known to family and friends—spent most of her life in Toronto before moving to Edmonton more than a decade ago. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Guy Bass-Meldrum, and their four children: Jason (Heather), Joshua (Alliece), Rachel Naomi, and Chad (Jennifer). She was also a devoted grandmother to eight cherished grandchildren: Josiah, Grace, Elizabeth, Caleb, Claire, Luke, Isla, and Lily, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy.
Louise devoted her life and vocation to caring for her family as a stay-at-home mother, pouring her heart into raising her children with love, faith, and compassion. Her relationship with Christ was the cornerstone of her life, and she found her greatest calling in ministering to others. Whether with family, friends, or complete strangers alike, she had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen and valued. No matter who they were or where they came from, Louise always took the time to listen to someone’s story with genuine interest and kindness.
Louise will be remembered as a woman of extraordinary generosity, unwavering faith, and selfless love, who wanted the best for everyone else, often at a great cost to herself. She consistently put the needs of others before her own, offering encouragement, hospitality, and compassion to all who crossed her path. Her life leaves a lasting legacy that will continue to be reflected in the lives of those she loved, served, and whom she ministered to.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, surviving siblings, extended family, and the friends whose lives she touched and enriched along the way.
