Peacefully, on September 22, 2023, James “Jim” Bassani of Edmonton passed away at the age of 97 years.

Jim is lovingly remembered by his wife of 74 years Audrey, his daughter Shirley Kosick and partner Grant Wilson of Edmonton, two grandchildren: Shawna (Brad) Quinton of Vancouver and Sara Moore of Lake Louise, two great-grandchildren Jimmy and Patrick Quinton.

Jim was predeceased by his son-in-law Jack Kosick.

Jim founded City Spring and Axle Ltd. in September 1956 and was still in the office five days a week until he was 94 years of age.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, doors open at 4:00 p.m., celebration starts at 5:00 p.m. at the Pioneers Cabin, 9430 Scona Road NW, Edmonton.

If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Hope Mission, STARS Air Ambulance or St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital Palliative Care Unit for the exceptional care given to Jim during his stay; his caregiver Marietta Sanchez for her kindness and compassionate care; Dr. Dave Bernhard and his staff at the Save-On-Foods Pharmacy (Calgary Trail); and staff and friends at MacTaggart Place Retirement Residence.
