Janice Lynne BERGEN

We are saddened to announce that Janice Lynne Bergen passed away on December 8, 2025, at the age of 56.  Janice was an empathetic, positive light in many people’s lives and she will be missed by all who loved her.  Her sudden passing was health related, but far too soon.

Janice’s greatest adoration and source of pride was her son Conner, with whom she shared a great sense of humour, love of cooking and compassion and consideration for people from all walks of life.  She loved to encourage his growth but missed him greatly as he left the nest.

While her loss deeply saddens all who knew her, there is comfort that she had caring friends, loved her work and being part of an incredible team at Scandinavian Building Services, who provided a work home for her.  Her coworkers and friends are huggers, which Janice loved very much.

Janice is predeceased by her mother, Shirley Bergen.  She leaves behind her cherished son, William (Conner) Ainslie, father, Harvey Bergen, sister Cheryl (& Doug) Perry, brothers Patrick (& Lesley) and Glen (& Jen) as well as nephews and nieces Spencer, Maxwell and Chelsea (& Nick), Madeleine and Sophia, Jack and Tom. Janice also leaves behind her former husband and friend, Ryan Ainslie.

There will be an Informal Gathering to Celebrate Janice’s Life on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the Whitemud Equine Learning Centre Association at 12510 Fox Dr NW, Edmonton, AB. This will be a chance to share stories about Janice and toast her life. Attire will be dress jeans. There will be snacks and non-alcoholic refreshments will be available. Janice loved horses so we are thankful to be able to hold the event at this location.

My little sister was taken far too soon. She had a lifelong love of horses, and in them she found beauty, freedom and strength—qualities she carried so naturally herself. I admired her tenacity more than anything. She faced life with grit, heart, and determination, always with a smile. She was deeply loved, and she will never be forgotten.
    Love you Janessa!

OMG I am stunned and heartbroken to hear this news.
Janice was an amazing friend that I “met” online and we just clicked. A few times we tried to arrange a meeting, but it just never happened. I always held out hope that it would.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Connor and Ryan and all of Janice’s family and friends

I don’t know where to begin. I hadn’t seen Janice since we were kids. We were neighbours, I was friends with her brother Glen. I will always cherish the times we had as neighbours and friends. My condolences to her family and friends. Taken from us far to early.

I am absolutely in shock. Janice, we didn’t talk often but we talked about everything. You were always a person to light up any room that you were in and hearing your voice always made me smile. Conner and Ryan, my thoughts are with you. Cheryl, Patrick, Glen and Uncle Harv, my heart goes out to all of you during this time. Janice was truly one of a kind and made everyone’s day brighter. The world has lost a beautiful soul.
