Anna May Bumback
1941-2025
It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Anna May Bumback (Roch) on April 24, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born in Galahad Alberta to Mary and Victor Roch, Anna was the youngest of 7 children. She spent her childhood on the family farm and later moved to Grand Prairie where she began her career. Anna dedicated 45 years of her life to the Health Unit, retiring at Westview Hospital in Stony Plain. She continued to volunteer in the community for Light Up Your Life and had many hobbies including curling, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.
Anna will be remembered for her witty humour, homemade chiffon cakes, and unwavering kindness. She always made people feel at home and had a gift for turning ordinary moments into lasting memories.
Anna’s legacy of love, determination, and quiet strength will live on in all who knew her.
Anna will be forever loved and remembered by her daughters Roni and Alanna (Dennis), and her two-favourite people, her granddaughters Alexandra (Nikolas) and Nicole (Benjamin).
A funeral Mass will be held on May 9th, 2025, at 11:00am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with a reception to follow. Donations can be made to the Light Up Your Life Foundation or the Good Samaritan Society.

My dear younger sister, Annie, you and I spent all our lives together- in our younger years at the farm and later in our lives where ever we both lived. We went on many bus trips together and you came to be with me when my Rod passed away. Then I spent many times visiting you in Stoney Plain and the last time – November 2022 to May 1 st 2023 when I spent this time with you – caring for you and loving you. I will always remember the special times we would sit in the sunshine in the garage talking about the times we shared in Grande Prairie and visiting Alliance -that last year on the 100th anniversary we visited many of our former classmates. The many times, you, Madeline and I would visit Steven and Betty at the farm – have supper and play golf.
Now you have gone to a new home- in Heaven with Jesus where you are happy with no pain anymore. I do not know how many more years that I have on this earth but I look forward to the day when I too will be in Heaven and we will once again be together to hug and laugh and reminisce about our happy years.
There were five Roch sisters and now you-Annie, are with Rosie and Josephine and Madeline and me-Eileen are left here in this lifetime. And so today- your funeral day – I will not be able to attend in person but will be with you in spirit .
Goodbye to my dearest sister and friend forever- God bless – all my love- Eileen
My dear younger sister, Annie, I will always love you and I look forward to the day when I will be with you in Heaven with Jesus. We were together all our lives and will be again one day. God bless. Love Eileen
