Gary Gordon CAMPBELL

It is with profound sorrow that the family of Gary Gordon Campbell announces his passing on Sunday, November 9, 2025. Gary leaves behind his beloved children—Bill (Lisa), Lindsay (Evan), and Jaime—and a cherished legacy through his grandchildren: Stephanie, Jeannie, Matthew, Caleb, Taylor, Campbell, Aubrey, Will, Jodie, and Josie, as well as seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jeannie; two sons, Donald and Bobby; and his second wife, Beth.

Born in Edmonton on July 31, 1936, Gary’s life was marked by extraordinary achievement and unwavering dedication to his community. Over nearly nine decades, he distinguished himself through his legal career, business ventures, and philanthropic efforts. A proud graduate of the University of Alberta, Gary earned his B. Comm. in 1958 and his law degree in 1962. He practiced law at Cormie Kennedy—later Miller Thomson—and was honored with the title of Queen’s Counsel in 1986. Beyond the courtroom, Gary’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to found the Churchill Corporation and serve in leadership roles including Chairman and CEO of North West Trust Company, Chairman of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Economic Development Authority, President of the Edmonton Eskimos, and Chairman of the Alberta Cancer Board. His generosity extended to numerous causes, including the Minerva Foundation, the Children’s Health Foundation of Northern Alberta, the Citadel Theatre, CASA, and Kid’s Cottage.

Though Gary was known for his sharp mind and strong will, those closest to him will remember his loyalty, kindness, and steadfast devotion to family. His presence was larger than life, and his absence leaves an immeasurable void. He will be deeply missed.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life on July 17th, 2026 at the Royal Glenora Club in Edmonton.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a charity of your choice in Gary’s name or to the nearest prostate cancer research center.
