Case, Norman Edwin

September 2, 1935 – September 11, 2026

Norman passed away due to interstitial lung disease after a brief stay at The Sturgeon Community Hospital.  He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Falcos, and son, Russell Case; grandchildren Ivan Falcos (Kendra Wagner) and Monica Falcos (fiancé Reece Wallace).  Sisters Carol Allen (Rae), Glenna Russell (Ron) and brother Stanley Case (Maryann).  He was predeceased by his parents Ted and Leila.

Norm was born in Edmonton and lived in the west-end.  For the last 40 years he spent his winters in Mesa, AZ at Apache Wells playing golf, enjoying the community and many friends.  Norm could be found on Friday nights at the clubhouse, dancing with the ladies.  He had special friendships with Marge Woodley and Marilyn Johnson in Apache Wells.

Norm worked on a few different seismic crews and camps in the winter for a few years starting in the late ‘50’s clearing the lake so small planes could bring in food and supplies.  While running a caterpillar tractor in the middle of winter it fell through the ice and he had to walk through snow in -35 to get back to camp.  He kept track of the camps he worked on as to whether the food was good or not.  Norm also worked building houses in old Jasper Place, Westlawn in the ‘70’s and built an apartment building on 151 Street.  He owned the apartment for 19 years though it drove him crazy.  He took the door off a suite of a tenant that wouldn’t move out.  He was buying and selling lots in the ‘60’s and yellow iron.  He drew up blueprints for people’s houses and for the 19-suite apartment block.  He built a 6-plex in the early ‘70’s across from the Orange Hub.

Norm and Shirley married in the ‘60’s, and lived in Meadowlark with their children.  Norm was involved in the community league as winter sports director for 3 years.    He enjoyed organizing the hockey teams, and he met a lot of good people.  Norm formed an all-age men’s hockey team the Meadowlark Old Timers that continued on from 1972 – 2007.  He left and joined an over 35 men’s hockey team called the Edmonton Afterburners.  The team played in various hockey tournaments across Canada and the US.

Thank you to the nursing staff and doctors at The Sturgeon Community Hospital for caring for Norm.  At Norm’s wishes there will be no funeral service.
