Janice Charles
1948 – 2026
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Janice Louise Charles of Edson, Alberta. Janice passed on August 20, 2026, surrounded by family that she loved so deeply.
Born on April 24,1948 to Frank and Agnes East, Janice grew up in the prairie town of Climax, Saskatchewan. Janice was a hardworking, strong, and compassionate woman who loved her family, gardening, sunsets in Mexico, and sitting on her deck smoking a dart.
Janice was predeceased by her parents Frank and Agnes; siblings William, Gwen, Phyllis, Ken, and Donald; husband William; and her precious son, Rory, who she always said she couldn’t wait to see again someday.
She is survived by her children Rick (Wendy), Jill (Harvey), and Ryan (Kim); grandchildren Kendra (Trenton), Kate (William), Letiacia (T.K.), Anna (Tim), Ryman, Shaylyn, Derek (Michelle), Dylan (Cara), Shantel (Barry), Shelby (Donny), Alicia (Teagan), Ashlyn, Alana (Cam), and Ryan Jr.; great grandchildren Eli, Sophia, Ian, Cade, Amelia, Finn, Palmer, Robert, Andrew, Bruin, Aubrey, Gracie, William, Emalene, Kaysen, Blakely, and Rory; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In accordance with Janice’s wishes, no public service will be held. Please celebrate her life & memory in your own way and in lieu of flowers or tribute do something kind for another person.

Remembering Aunt Janice Charles 🤍
My Aunt Janice Charles was truly the matriarch of our family. She was a strong and loving presence, and her place in our family can never be replaced. Especially if we were traveling past Edson, she’d always find a bed for us…or when I was doing my BSW…loved our little visits and her sweet lunches she packed for me.
After everything she endured, I find comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering and is finally at peace. As the last of her siblings, she now joins them again, surrounded by the love and family that came before her.
Auntie Janice, you will be dearly missed. Your love, strength, memories, and legacy will continue to live on through all of us who loved you.
I will always carry you in my heart, and you will forever be remembered. Rest peacefully, Auntie. ❤️🕊️
My sincere condolences to the Family.
I was fortunate enough to be able to work with Janice for many years at Parkland Lodge in Edson. She started there as home care, in the lodge, which I always admired her. Then we got to work extremely close together for years, as managers, of the seniors lodge. She will be missed dearly.
