It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, grandfather, great- grandfather Daniel Chrystian, on August 25, 2026, at the age of 93.
Daniel was born on February 6, 1933, and grew up on the family farm in the Holden area. He attended Medal School and shared a close bond with his brothers Tom, Peter, and Mathew. His older brother Tom played an especially important role in helping raise Dan and his younger brothers.
On July 2, 1960, Dan married the love of his life, Phyllis, in Polska on a very rainy day. Together, they shared 65 years of marriage and built a beautiful life filled with love, family, and many treasured memories. They made their home in Edmonton, where they took great pride in their house and yard—a shared passion they enjoyed for many years.
Dan was remarkably handy and could build, fix, or create just about anything in his garage. He was always willing to lend a hand and enjoyed helping others in his community. He loved visiting with family and friends and always appreciated a good joke—even if he occasionally forgot the punchline before reaching the end.
Daniel is survived by his children, Eldon (Guylaine), Donna Hefford (Wayne), and Tracy Winship (Dave); his daughter-in-law, Veronica; his grandchildren, Jessica, Brock, Shayne, Marlee, and Morgan; his step-grandchildren, Will, Ruthanne, Emily, Brandon, and Lauren; and his great-grandchildren, Jack and Norah.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Phyllis; his parents, Kost and Ann Chrystian; his son, Darrel Chrystian; and his eleven siblings. Dan was the last surviving sibling in a family of twelve. We take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with those he loved and missed so dearly.
Nothing brought Dad more joy than spending time with his family—sharing stories, enjoying visits, and watching his family grow. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the staff at Glastonbury Mews for the kindness, compassion, and wonderful care they provided to Dad over the past several years. Their support meant a great deal to our family.

Monday, September 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
Lunch and a time of fellowship will follow at the church after Mass.
Family and friends are invited to join us as we remember and celebrate Dan’s life.
In lieu of flowers, please honour Dan’s memory by taking someone you care about out for coffee or lunch and enjoying a good visit together.
