Neal Joseph DOLNEY
Neal Joseph Dolney was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan on November 22nd, 1958 to Stephanie and Clarence Dolney. He was one of 3 children in their family, Gerry the oldest, Kellie Anne the middle and Neal the last.
Neal’s career started at Beaver Lumber in North Battleford, in the mid 70’s working for his father learning the business and he then moved to Edmonton and worked for Beaver Lumber at Northtown for a few years eventually joining Weldwood in Edmonton in 1980 and later moving to Calgary.
He met Carol in the early 90’s during an easter dinner at one of Carol’s aunts family gatherings. There was an instant attraction between the 2 of them, but Neal was still living and working in Calgary. A few years later Neal moved back to Edmonton and worked for Unicity Custom Brokerage, and during that time, Neal and Carol started dating. Not long after he joined Formations and continued working there until diagnosed with cancer in the summer of 2022, over 27 years.
Some of his favorite things was joining Carol’s moms family on weekends in the Rocky Mountain House area for a weekend getaway where stories were shared around a campfire and quading expeditions consumed the days, along with good food and company.
He was passionate about gardening and everything had to be perfect. Neal would often come home from work, pour a cocktail, have a bite to eat and head outside to dig around the vegetable garden and meticulously tend the flowers in the flower beds and numerous pots that decorated their patios and deck. He would often say, “I don’t have to go anywhere in the summer because the yard is an oasis” and he worked a lot of hours maintaining it that way. Outdoor lights would light up the yard in the evenings, and on weekends a fire was started in the fire pit and friends and neighbours would join them for cocktails, eats, and conversation late into the night.
He loved Carol’s nieces and his face would light up whenever he was with them.
He will be greatly missed by Carol and their dogette named Georgie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Neal’s name may be made to your local or favorite animal shelter.

Our love goes out to Carol. We so enjoyed you and Neal coming to visit . We will miss him too. He was a great gardener, that was easy to see when we visited your home. He always had something to say and so it was easy to visit as he was quite knowledgeable in many areas of conversation. Hugs to you Carol.
