Daniel (Dano) Ross DRUMMOND

Daniel Ross Drummond | September 10, 1985 – June 20, 2023

It is with profound sadness and sorrow that the family of Daniel (Dano) Drummond announce his passing at the age of 37 after a courageous battle with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC).

Dano is survived by his best friend and partner in life, his wife, Lindsay Drummond; his daughter, Caelynn, and son, Harrison; his parents, Dave and Carol Drummond; his brother, Ben (Evelyn) Drummond, and nieces and nephew, Ellie, Samantha, and Lucas; his father- and mother-in-law, Larry Oshust and Donna Richardson; his sister-in-law, Shelby (Tyler) Johnston and nephew, Jay; and numerous other family members living abroad.

Above all, Dano’s loved ones will forever cherish him as an exceptional father, devoted husband, and compassionate family-oriented man. Due to his compassion and kindness, he had a natural gift for connecting with people, and an intuitive knack for inspiring and uplifting those he encountered. He loved all sports, particularly soccer, a sport he excelled at. He was widely known and loved by those in the soccer community, where he played soccer all his life and coached for the past decade.

Dano was a strong advocate for organ donation. Most recently, he dedicated his efforts towards raising awareness about the rare liver disease, PSC. It would be in keeping with his desire for individuals to consider signing their organ donor card.

Celebration of Life:

A celebration of life will be held:

In keeping with Dano’s wishes, please wear your favourite sports jersey or bright coloured clothing. NOTE: there is road construction in the area. The church can be approached from the west on Villeneuve Road or from the south via Giroux Road.

Tributes:

Dano’s family respectfully declines the gift of flowers. In lieu of floral tributes, the family encourages donations to one of the following:

I’m so saddened to hear of this end to Daniel’s journey on Earth. I always enjoyed watching him play at MacEwan – a gifted central midfielder who could score off a free kick from pretty much anywhere. He was always generous with his support for the women’s soccer team. Such a kind, genuine individual. May his wife and family be blessed with strength to carry on. May your children always know your legacy Daniel- you created an exceptional one in the short time you were here. Rest well

A true inspiration to all, the most kind hearted, encouraging, and caring person i have ever met, and will ever meet. One of my soccer coaches for many years who not only encouraged me for soccer related issues, but other personal issues regarding self esteem and confidence. He was able to boost my confidence and always made sure I had a smile on my face. He was always there for me when i needed it most, and he has impacted my life forever. Particularly, he made sure that my self doubt was not true, and that i deserved to be where i was, and i am so grateful for the support and encouragement he gave me.

I hope his family, and especially his children are doing okay. I gifted Dano a piggy bank to give to his daughter as a good bye gift for when he left my schools soccer program, and I hope that is put to good use one day. My prayers to Kaelyn and Harrison, growing up without a father will be difficult, especially when the father was someone as incredible as Dano.

I wish i was able to thank him one last time for all he has done for me. I would tell him thank you for everything and tell him he was not only an amazing coach but a wonderful person to all. He will be truly missed

My condolences go to his family and loved ones, all of who are in my prayers.

The story of how I met Dano, his love for Spurs and the vitality he brought to GlobalCOYS.

It all began on that sunny winter day on December 27th, 2017. I found myself at a bar in Santa Monica, gazing out at the beach view, enjoying the respite from the cold Chicago winter where I lived.

The exhilaration from Tottenham’s 5-2 resounding victory against Southampton the previous day still lingered, with Harry Kane’s magnificent hat-trick fuelling dreams of a successful league campaign.

As fate would have it, I initiated a conversation with a friendly group at the bar, avidly discussing the game. Among them was Patrick, a lively and affable gentleman from Canada. He mentioned that they were headed to Hawaii for a wedding. Sharing the same passion for Spurs, we quickly exchanged numbers, hoping to keep in touch and catch up again.

A few weeks later, as the memories of that sunny December day faded, I received a message from Patrick. He introduced me to his friend, Dano, who shared the same unwavering support for Tottenham Hotspur. Dano and I soon began chatting, and Dano was added to the GlobalCOYS WhatsApp group in early 2018.

It wasn’t long before Dano’s positive attitude and genuine love for the club won the hearts of the members of GlobalCOYS, discussing the highs and lows of the current season, analysing player performances, and passionately debating Spurs’ prospects of winning the lot.

Dano always injected a renewed sense of hope into the group with his cheerful demeanour and boundless optimism. Regardless of the result or setback, Dano would always find a silver lining, rallying the group with his uplifting messages and unyielding belief that Spurs would conquer all challenges.

As time passed, conversations expanded beyond football, delving into personal experiences, shared interests, and the beautiful intricacies of life itself. Dano’s warmth and genuine care for others shone through every message, creating camaraderie within the group.

A few years back, Dano shared the devastating news that he had been battling health problems, the severity of which had recently worsened. Even in the face of this adversity, Dano’s unwavering spirit shone through. Despite his challenges, he displayed remarkable strength, interacting with the folks in the group almost daily – sharing his passion and love for Spurs.

We will all miss Dano’s boundless optimism and unwavering support for Tottenham Hotspur. Dano was a bright and enthusiastic soul, a true embodiment of the spirit of Tottenham Hotspur and a beloved member of the GlobalCOYS supporters group. His unwavering positivity and infectious banter had made him a firm favourite amongst passionate Spurs fans from all corners of the world.

Rest in Peace with Bill Nick, Dano. We miss you dearly, our friend. COYS.
