It is with deep sorrow and lasting love that we mourn the untimely passing of Paul Samuel Evans of Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 53. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at Grey Nuns Hospital on Monday, June 1, 2026.
Paul was predeceased by his father, Samuel Joseph Evans and his grandparents, Arnie and Leo Evans, and Matthew and Madeline Dwyer. Left with loving memories are his adoring mother, Philomena (Dave), his pride and joy, his son Brody, and his cherished brother, Lee. Paul will also be dearly missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
His loving nature allowed him to remain dear to the family of his first wife and Brody’s mother, Courtney, who predeceased him in 2022, Courtney’s parents Belinda (Mike) and Larry (Della) her sisters Shawna (Mike) and Mandy as well as their extended family. He will also be missed and mourned by his second wife Karie (Curtis) and her immediate and extended family as well as his many close friends.
Other than the people in his life, his greatest love was music including almost all genres. Paul had a fondness specifically for techno, punk and his son Brody’s original productions. He was a DJ for several years and rarely drove a vehicle, showered, worked, or recreated without music being the background to his life.
Paul was an avid weightlifter, rugby player, and cross-fit coach. If he wasn’t at work or home, he was most often at the gym and had a passion for helping others find a path to fitness as well. Paul caught the travel bug and while living abroad, had the opportunity to travel to Mexico, England, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sri Lanka, Philippines and through China. However, Paul loved nothing more than to spend time with a friend or loved one, carefully (and slowly) creating for them a fine cup of artisan coffee and having a long talk. He often said that his dream job was to own a coffee shop and he had many entrepreneurial interests over his life.
After starting his career as a heavy equipment operator in Fort McMurray, his excitement about fitness and wellness prompted him to become a certified fitness instructor and personal trainer, a career that he pursued while he lived in Calgary, as well as Doha, Qatar, and Beijing, China. In recent years, Paul became a certified safety professional and worked in safety positions in the oil and gas industry as well as construction, including the Bow River Bridge expansion in Calgary and repairs to major BC highways following the devastating atmospheric river.
Paul will always be remembered for the ability to find humour in any situation. His laughter was infectious and while he was a masterful teaser and jokester, he had the rare gift of being able to laugh at himself which allowed him to avoid taking himself or even the darkest situation, too seriously.
The family wishes to express gratitude to the tireless efforts of surgeons, doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff who demonstrated exceptional attention to Paul throughout his cardiac illness and who attended to him with profound care in his final days.
A service celebrating Paul’s life will be held at. St. Theresa Parish at 7508-29 Avenue NW, Edmonton on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. A luncheon will be held for all who wish to attend.

Paul was a bright light who brought positivity to every conversation or situation. My deepest condolences to your family.
Sincere condolences to all of Paul’s loved ones. He was an absolute blessing for all who met him. I worked with Paul at Bouchier and he was our safety advisor. I haven’t had a better more entertaining safety meeting since. He could make an entire room burst into laughter just his smile and laughter. He was a legend with our crew and was forever talked about for years to come after he moved on to other things. He was one of a kind and a truly good human being.

My sincere condolences to all of Paul’s family. We worked together at Bouchier for a short time but in that time we shared many conversations and lots of laughs. He will be sadly missed.

Paul truly was a one of a kind character and personality, there was never a dull moment when he was in the room. He was an eccentric individual, never afraid to act foolishly to make his loved ones laugh out loud, and we always did.
Paul was a gentle soul, with his laid back demeanour he could make light of almost any situation. Paul always kept up his fitness, he was a world traveller, owner/operator of his own business, a big brother, cool cousin & friend and a loving son. The accomplishment he was most proud of was being a father, he was very proud of you, Brody. Paul loved his people with his whole heart, he always had your back. He was not just my buddy, he was a brother to me. We will always remember the love and laughs we shared.

The world is definitely a bit darker with him gone. He was the biggest ray of sunshine i have ever met, always smiling ear to ear. Organized kaos at it’s best! I always looked forward to working with him cause I knew i was gonna have a laugh. My condolences go out to all family and friends. Stay strong for each other.
