Clarence Richard GOLKA

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow we mourn the sudden passing of our brother, uncle and friend, Richard Golka on January 4, 2024 at the age of 75.

He will be lovingly remembered with deep affection and gratitude for the memories we shared. He leaves behind his trusted companion, Popcorn, siblings Marie, Dave (Valerie), Christine (Wayne) and Patricia; his close cousin Marion, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Richard was a gentle soul and had a kind heart for everyone and never wanted anyone to feel they had to go out of their way for him. He lived his life as he wanted – off grid and trapping for many years!

To quote Richard….. “This is my heaven on earth!”

Rest in Peace.

“Start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” St. Francis of Assisi

We were sad to hear of Richard’s passing. I cherish the times I spent with Richard around the Viking, Tofield area. We had a good time fishing and hunting on a number of different occasions and I will remember our outings. I always considered Richard as a good friend. May he rest in peace.

Richard called me many times over the years and he always had enthusiasm in his voice. He talked about his bears and his trapping in the peaceful outdoors that gave him happiness and joy. His Freinds were his native neighbors he said and the oilfield workers he ran into and occasionally slipped into camp for suppers. RIP Richard.

Our condolences to all of the family. Richard was a unique man. He definitely had an inner strength that allowed him to take a less travelled path. Something to be admired.

I met Richard at his cabin in the peaceful woods, and I could tell he was happy there, and he indeed “did it his way” He always had a great story to tell me when he’d come over to the camp. RIP Richard – heaven has gained a nice guy! Condolences to Richards family.
