Betty Cecelia GREGOIRE (nee LARSON)

Betty Cecelia Gregoire (nee Larson)

November 19, 1928 – November 8, 2023

God called our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Auntie and Friend, Betty Gregoire, to her     eternal home on November 8th. Looking forward to celebrating her 95th birthday, an unexpected brief illness took her away, 11 days before. She was at peace and ready to get her angel wings.

She is now reunited with her parents, Alf and Melissa Larson of Irma, Alberta, Marcel, her husband of 59 years, 9 brothers and sisters, grandsons Keith Gregoire, Nathan and Jeremy Payne and many other relatives and friends.

Left to mourn, but with a lifetime of cherished memories, are her children Ken (Darlene) Lorraine Friedel (Gary), Paul (Monica) and Mark (Delores), brother Philip Larson (Evelyn), sister Cora, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Betty was a long-time associate of the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception, and the Catholic Women’s League and Scrubbies at St. Matthew Parish. She spent many years quietly volunteering wherever needed. She loved her family and friends unconditionally… always looking for the good in everyone.

Please join us for a celebration of her life, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday November 29, 2023, at St. Matthew Church, 13131 – 86 St., Edmonton.

Special thanks to her friends and neighbours at Emmanuel Home, the Unit 44 staff at Grey Nuns Hospital, and the 6th Floor at Norwood.

In lieu of flowers, please pass on Acts of Kindness and support our homeless shelters.

I’ll always remember Mrs. Gregoire’s response when I confessed to her that I was the friend who was skipping school with Lorraine (She having witnessed us running stealthily near their house). She said,’I wish other friends of Lorraine’s had the honesty and bravery of you. You’re a good friend.’
I am sorry that I was not able to visit with her since moving to Alberta 5 years ago. I was really looking forward to seeing her again. She will be missed.

TO THE GREGOIRE FAMILY… Betty will be missed by not only her family but friends, new and old alike. We first met the Gregoire family in 1966 … that is indeed going back a few years! Betty was always full of energy and enthusiasm and always welcomed everyone into her home which we spent many hours in having coffee and just enjoying chatting about anything and everything. It seemed nothing could stop her from doing what she wanted to get done… such was her enthusiasm for life! She (as well as her family) have always been a big part of the great memories we often reminisce over as we all get older. Our children too often bring up the “Gregoires” in their memories of growing up in Delwood. May these memories be what her children keep in their hearts forever! MAY SHE REST IN PEACE ! To my ex mother in law who was loving towards me to the end. She displayed the true act of forgiveness & respected that I was still the mother of her 2 grandchildren. You will be greatly missed.
