It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Huw Grice on March 27, 2025, at the age of 82.

Huw was born November 20, 1942, in Abercrave, Wales, UK. He trained as a Heavy Duty Mechanic and obtained his journeyman certificate starting his career working on coach buses and in a metal factory.

He courageously moved his young family to Canada in October,1980 and settled in Edson, AB where he continued working as a heavy-duty mechanic at Luscar-Sterco coal mine. He told many stories of flying to work in a helicopter and all of the interesting things he saw up in the mountains. After his children had grown, he moved to Edmonton and finished his career at Diversified Transportation.

Huw will be remembered as a kind man always willing to lend a hand to a friend. One of his favorite things was talking to people. Huw had the gift of the gab and would talk to strangers and make friends wherever he went. He had a love of travel and visited many places near and far including the Caribbean, Mexico, a cruise to Hawaii, back to Wales and Australia a number of times.

Huw is loved and remembered by his wife of almost 21 years, Shirley Ann Grice, his daughter Rhian (Brent) Schroeder of Tilley, AB, his son Owen Grice of Edmonton along with his grandchildren Gavin, Rhys, Layna, Rhiley and Jayden. His grandchildren were his greatest joy and he was so proud of them all.

He also leaves behind many close friends in Canada & Wales. He was predeceased by his first wife Elaine Ann Grice in 1989.

Cremation has taken place, no formal services are being planned.
