Darrel was born on November 6, 1961 and passed away in his home on or about January 4, 2023. 

He is survived by his sister Darlene Rose Harasivich, three nephews, one niece, as well as five great-nieces and 2 great-nephews. 

In his younger days growing up in and around Two Hills, Alberta, he was a typical farm boy riding tractors, climbing fences making tree forts and riding horses, cows, and pigs – pretty much anything that had 4 legs and could carry him. 

At the young age of six, his family moved to British Columbia. They spent a short while in Dawson Creek and then settled in Sparwood, British Columbia in the East Kooteneys. Growing up in Sparwood, he quickly became your typical mountain boy. Hiking, train hopping, fishing, dirt biking, and road hockey were all a part of his life as he gained and maintained many lifelong friendships. Camping and bush parties were also a big part of Darrel’s life, and he was always sure to be the life of the party with his witty sense of humor and never quit personality. 

In his adult years he tried many things such as construction and bush work. He started a fence post business for a while but found his real passion was cooking, so he went off to Alberta’s work camps and worked as a cook for several years. Darrel eventually settled in Edmonton, Alberta where he again joined up with lifelong friends and gained many new friends. 

Life can be hard on us and our health can take a nasty turn such as it was with Darrel. He fought his battles his way and decided it was his time to leave the pain and suffering behind. 

We will truly miss Darrel but at the same time, we can also be happy for him as he is now free.
