Caroline HAYES

With profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Caroline Jane Hayes (nee Dysievick) on December 23, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta. She will be deeply missed by her best friend and husband of 48 years, Ron, and her daughters, Ashley and Lisa, her greatest joy.

She is survived by siblings Jerry, Stanley (Donna), Ron (Sherry), Larry, Walter (Linda), Diane, Millie (Terry), Brian (Lori), Sheila, brother in-law Rob (Anne) and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family who all held a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by her parents William and Rose Dysievick.

Caroline was born in Fort William, Ontario on April 18, 1953. A welcomed girl after four boys. She loved growing up in Thunder Bay, she was a steady and trusted help to her mother, caring for her younger siblings and cousins. After high school she moved to Edmonton where she began her career, met her husband Ron and started her family. Caroline had strong family connections and an open door to the many visitors to Edmonton. Her happiest moments were spent outside at the lake, skiing in Jasper, hanging out in the backyard with family, friends and fur-friends.

Caroline was quick to laugh. Her warmth was a sense of comfort to those around her. She gave endlessly of herself, always putting others first and offering support, patience, and love without hesitation. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the compassion she showed every day. She taught us the meaning of resilience, love and grace and her presence will be felt forever.

We want to extend our gratitude to the staff at Dickensfield Continuing Care Home Main A and Royal Alexandra Hospital Robbins Pavilion 3 East for their kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Alzheimer’s Society. https://alzheimer.ca/en

A funeral and celebration of life honouring Caroline will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 16102 Fort Road NW, Edmonton, Alberta.

Mrs Hayes, woman who was the definition of caring and thoughtful, and who had a sense of humor that could instantly light up a room. She had a way of making people feel seen and valued—whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or a perfectly timed joke. You will be truly missed and be thought about constantly.
