Mary Margaret JORDAN

In Loving Memory of Mary Margaret Jordan

September 16, 1947 – October 31, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Margaret Jordan, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, friend, and grandmother. Mary was born on September 16, 1947, in Edmonton, Alberta and passed away on October 31, 2023.

It seems fitting that Halloween would be the day she embarked on her next great adventure. Her love for the holiday will forever be a cherished memory, and we can picture her with a playful grin, orchestrating a grand exit on one of her favorite days of the year.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, John Joseph Jordan and Mary Dorothy Glorina Jordan (Sharrow), her brothers John Jordan and Patrick Jordan, and her grandson Ryan. She is survived by her sons, Stephen (Teri) and Richard (Jennifer), her caring siblings Rab (Frank), Gary (Evelyn), and Dorothy. In addition to her adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Mary leaves behind an extensive family network, including nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Mary held a special fondness for the simple pleasures of life. She found immense joy in the warmth of a cup of tea and the company of loved ones. Engaging in light-hearted or meaningful conversations with those she held dear was among her favorite pastimes. Mary had a remarkable gift for connecting with both children and teenagers, a talent that was underscored by her years as a foster parent. Among her passions, Mary held a particular soft spot for Betty Boop’s timeless charm, Bob Seger’s soulful tunes and the magic of the Christmas season.

Mary possessed an extraordinary level of independence. Even after enduring a brain injury, she remained undeterred, putting in tremendous effort to preserve her self-reliance. In time, she went on to serve as Board Director for EBIRS, where she wholeheartedly devoted herself to aiding individuals who were living with brain injuries in the Edmonton community.

Mary’s departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. With her sharp wit and sassy charm, Mary’s relationships were characterized by a blend of playful banter and jovial exchanges. Her memory will serve as a source of comfort and a reminder of the importance of cherishing every moment with those we hold dear.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 6:30 pm at the Londonderry Community Hall (14224 74 Street, Edmonton Alberta).

In lieu of flowers, we kindly request donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in Mary’s honor.

May Mary rest in eternal peace, surrounded by love and warmth. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
