Lana Joan KELLY
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Lana Joan Kelly (nee Walsh) on July 9, 2024. Lana passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with cancer at the the age of 64 years.
Lana was born in Kindersley, SK and grew up in Rosetown, SK. She met her life partner, Ross Kelly, in 1980 and were married in October 1982. Lana and Ross would have celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary in the fall of 2024.
From an early age, Lana’s dream was to be a part of the healthcare profession. She went on to obtain her certification as both a Registered Psychiatric Nurse and a Registered Nurse. Over a 30-plus year nursing career, Lana held several positions within various health care settings in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Her passion was simply to “Make a Difference” in the everyday life of mental health patients and she excelled at this passion. Lana lived in Edmonton since 1989 and her last position was within a hospital setting.
Lana was a special individual whose time on earth was a legacy of adventure, fun and joy. Lana had an exceptional sense of humor coupled with a zest for life that showed in everything she did. She was an amazing person who always put her family and friends first. Her kindness and generosity touched the hearts of everyone she met.
What gave Lana her greatest joy was her numerous passions for pets, plants, adventurous travel as well as time with her family, close friends and husband Ross. Her focus was to have some fun and enjoy every day to the fullest. Lana always lived by her words and encouraged everyone to do the same.
Lana is predeceased by her father-in-law, Arthur Kelly; mother-in-law, Audrey Ewert; step father in-Law, Wilfred Ewert; sister-in-law, Brenda Duncalfe and brother-in-law, Kirk Kelly.
Lana is survived by her loving Husband Ross; her parents, Marge and Jerome Walsh; step mother in law, Audrey Kelly; sister, Jean Bertrand; sister-in-law, Heather Kelly (Ray); step brothers, Robbie (Shelley) Ouellette and Dwayne (Lawrence) Little; nephews, Ryan and Evan Bertrand, Jason Martens and Travis Nicholls; niece Desirae (Jesse) Magas, as well as may other family members and their families.
The family is planning a Celebration of Lana’s Life at a later date in Edmonton, Alberta.
Lana’s entire family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Cross Cancer Institute and the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton Alberta.

I am deeply saddened for the loss of your wife, daughter, sister, auntie and my dear friend Lana! Our condolences to you.
Ross you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
We didn’t get to see each other that much but, we always stayed in touch birthdays and Christmas and texts and facetime, that we just started doing a little while ago.
We have been friends for many years and we were always able to pick up where we left off. I miss Lana dearly!
Lana was a lovely person inside and out and always cared for everyone. Always had a kind heart and kind words to say about everyone. Now you are at peace. You will always be in my thoughts.

My sincere condolences to Lana’s family.
I was very fortunate to have been oriented into the nursing profession by Lana as a RPN at the Grey Nuns hospital in Edmonton.
Her kindness, her sincerity and her amazing work ethic was instilled. Lana was an amazing nurse, a good friend and coworker.
While her health was challenged over the last few years Lana always remain positive, optimistic, and sincerely interested in what was happening in other peoples lives.
Her contagious laugh will be missed as well as her beautiful smile.
May her kind and gentle soul rest in peace. ❤️
