Samuel (Sam) Kendrick of Edmonton passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, at the ripe old age of 96.

Sam will be deeply missed by his daughter Sharyn (Joe), son Bryan (Denise) along with his three grandsons, Blayne, Danny, Leigh (Brigitte), great granddaughter (Harlow), nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his loving wife Audrey, sister Muriel and many friends.

He had a grand life and enjoyed it to the max.

As per his wishes, there will be no service or celebration of life.

If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the charity of their choice.

Samuel Lloyd Kendrick was born on November 14, 1929 in Hardisty, AB.  His parents took him and moved to Ardmore, AB., where his sister Muriel was born in May of 1931.  Sam and Muriel grew up in Ardmore and attended school.  He went as far as grade 8, then quit school to work for his dad who started up a company called L. Kendrick & Son Trucking.  Sam hauled railroad ties across Cold Lake during the winter months and in the summer months did various jobs.

When Sam was in his late teens he joined the Ardmore baseball team.  He really enjoyed playing ball.  Sam also played pool in the local pool hall and was a real pool shark.  His other favorite sports he liked to watch were hockey and boxing.

In his early twenties he went to Houston, BC., where he joined some of his friends that moved there earlier from Ardmore to work in the logging industry. Sam also took a job when not busy logging in the Houston Hotel Bar slinging beer.  On one occasion he served Bing Crosby and received a $5.00 tip from him.

Sam came back to Edmonton in the early fifties and got a job with Sunburst Bus Lines.  In the fall of 1953, he met the love of his life, Audrey Robson whom he married in June 1955.  Their daughter Sharyn was born in September 1956 and their son Bryan was born in June 1958.  Sam decided to quit driving the bus and went to work for his brother-in-law delivering propane.  Eventually he got his own truck and delivery route.  Sam's route took him as far as the power plant in Jasper, AB.  He really cared for all his customers and made sure their tanks were always filled.

Sam enjoyed hunting for many years.  He and Audrey spent a great deal of time camping and fishing at many lakes throughout Alberta.  They also joined their good friends Joe and Loretta and headed south with their motorhomes to spend the winters in Las Vegas

In 1979 Sam helped his son-in-law and his brother start up Edmonton Brake & Clutch Ltd.  He remained a silent partner for a few years, and was very proud of his son-in-law for his hard work and success.  Sam would help out as a parts driver when needed.

After Audrey's passing in 1990 he continued to go on camping trips with family and friends.  He really liked going to garage sales too.

Sam was diagnosed with Dementia in 2017 and was placed in a facility in 2020 when he could no longer look after himself.  Sam's health declined quickly after his 96th birthday and passed away on December 28, 2025.

He (dad/Papa) will be sadly missed by all his family!!
