Shane Gerald LAWRICK
Shane Gerald Lawrick
Sadly passed away at the age of 63 peacefully and surrounded by family on May 18, 2026, in Edmonton, Alberta.
He was the son of Tony and Audrey Lawrick, Father of Christopher and Justin Lawrick, Stepfather to Jennifer Sczembora, Father-in-law to Lana Lawrick and Melanie Pagliaro, Grandfather of Sheveah Edwards, Kamarion Sczembora, Christopher and Sophia Lawrick, and a 44-year companion to Linda Sczembora.
Shane was a grandfather first and foremost. His passion and life’s work was to bring joy to his babies. He lived every day in service to the children that were blessed to grace his presence. Those kids belonged to him more than anyone. He would fight to see his babies no matter what. After bills were paid and he had his grandpa juice, every other dollar he had went to spoiling them. He would do anything to put a smile on their face.
Shane was a sportsman. There wasn’t a sport that he wasn’t one of the best at. His passion for hockey was passed down to his sons and grandson. Shane had slick hands and an ice presence that put him a class of his own. He made ice and ran outdoor hockey rinks so he could play all day long. Money seemed to be a side note for that gig. In the summer, Shane would play every sport he could get players for. Baseball, golf, and road hockey were some of his favourites. He loved being active.
Shane loved being outdoors. Camping, fishing, and panning for gold were a few of his favourites. He loved the mountains and wouldn’t sleep a wink on the long drives to the destination. He was always on the lookout for wildlife and waterfalls to point out to Linda. He enjoyed setting up campfires and cooking for everyone to make sure everyone was comfortable and able to have a good time. He was a great leader.
Shane was strong, proud, hardworking, selfless, and every bit as stubborn. He had no quit. Universally loved and made a lasting impression on everyone he met. He loved music. He lived by his own set of rules and loved by them just the same.
When it came to making sure his family stayed connected, he was the conduit. He called everyone. He remembered every birthday and occasion.
He was a man that built a successful concrete company from the ground up and hired all his friends and family to make sure they were all taken care of. Even when they didn’t have the skills to do the job. He was giving in his own unique way that made everyone around him succeed.
This is a small part of the man that cared with a love that only he knew how to share. You will be greatly missed, Shane. The mark you left on the lives of your loved ones will shine on for a very long time. Thank you for a lifetime of friendship and love.
Shane will be remembered in a celebration of life on July 11, 2026, at the Greenfield community league from 1-5 p.m.
