In Loving Memory of Calvin Douglas Lewis
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Calvin Douglas Lewis on July 25th, 2026, at the age of 42. Born on November 11th, 1983, and raised in Darwell, Alberta. He was a cherished son, a devoted brother, uncle, cousin, bandmate, and friend to many throughout his years.
Calvin’s life was largely lived in Vancouver, BC. Calvin had an intrinsic passion for music – playing his guitar and playing in various bands. He was an entertainer at heart. He had a career in carpentry, enjoyed cooking, hockey, scrabble, and always carried warmth in his laugh, hugs, and support that will be sorely missed.
He was predeceased by his father Douglas, and he is survived by his mother Sharon, brother Jordan (Megan), and sister Shaneen (Sean). His niece, Olive, and nephews Elliott and Rafe, who loved their Uncle Calvin. His longstanding best feline friend Floyd.
The last few years of Calvin’s life has taught us an important life lesson, to take care of the mind, be kind to your body, and cherish your spirit. Communication is key when navigating mental illness and remembering to practice empathy for the intangible.

He was, and always will be, an unforgettable part of our family story. We will miss him beyond words, and we will love him forever.
A private celebration of life will be held with family and close friends to honour him.

Thinking of Cal and the family and friends today.
Super Mario theme song – Going back to an original Hornby Island camping memory of Cal at the campfire. I remember being absolutely blown away. We didn’t think it was possible to play something that complex on the guitar. He had us all in hysterical laughter with that one. 😂 🔥 🎸

I met him through friends and was invited to his jam space in Vancouver. I could tell he loved music and performing with his band mates & friends.
My husband and I were reminiscing the fun times we all had there a couple of days before Cal’s passing.

My deepest condolences to your family, I feel lucky to have known Calvin for many years in Vancouver. Although we did not play in a band together, we had many great jams, and I always respected him as a player and person. We had a huge mutual love for Queens of the Stone Age, and saw a few concerts together including a memorable show in Aug 2019. Calvin won’t be forgotten at all, and I’ll cherish the time. I give my deepest condolences about your brother as I’m sharing the loss of my own brother as we grew up and went to school with your brother so this really breaks my heart more for the both of us. Its taken me a few days to process this. I met Cal in 2008 and we became quick friends. He had a great sense of humor, was an amazing guitar player and singer, and was always ready for a good time. We attended a few concerts together, a few boat parties and he was there at my wedding in 2013. I wish I could call him and invite him over for dinner and drinks like old times………and for the record his soup was always better than mine!

My most sincerely condolences. I met him only once as an adult a few years ago but he seemed like a very kind soul. He had a gentleness about him – perhaps from being a musician which seemed to be his passion. I wish I had gotten to know him more. I feel like the world lost a really good person.
