David Henry LINMAN
On April 3, 2023, Mr. David Linman, husband, father, grandfather, ice hockey scheduler extraordinaire, suddenly left this part of his journey and he is off on a new adventure. He was 73 years of age by the calendar but was forever young at heart. David made a very conscious effort every day to ensure the people that he loved and cared for were happy.
David will be lovingly remembered by his wife Carmen, children: Danielle Pickard, Rhiannon (Joey Quinitilo), Jace Linman, Nicole Linman and Jadyn Linman, grandchildren: Bryce and Noah, Joseph, Ryan and Lexi, Violet Hurley, Avery and Daniel, and the mother of his three children Lin Linman (Danielle, Rhiannon, Jace).
David also leaves his sister Dawn Linman (Bob Watson), and brother Douglas Linman.
He was predeceased by his father Henry and his mother Patricia May.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023 between 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pointe West Cremation & Funeral Service, 15305-112 Avenue.
A Celebration of David’s life will be held on Thursday, April 20 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Chateau Louis, 11727 Kingsway Avenue.
If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation or the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation.
On behalf of the Sherwood Park Minor Hockey Association, I want to pass along my condolences to Carmen and family. I always enjoyed my conversations with Dave and he will be greatly missed in the hockey world.
Carmen and family. My thoughts and prayers to you all. I feel forever grateful to have Dave come on board when I was President of Hockey Edmonton. His leadership and support got us thru a lot of change. I learned so much from him. I loved his wit and his humour. His love for family was evident in all conversations. Carmen – My thoughts and prayers to you and your family. David and I spent so many years together, working for the youth of Edmonton and beyond, when he was with COE and then HE. We spent hours somedays just talking about his love for the acreage and his family and we totally got off the subject of ice – I sat here staring at the Condollence wondering what to say – and determined there are no words that are perfect, they have not been invented them yet.

Dave and my relationship is really ancient history having worked together for the City of Edmonton at Central Services Yard. My most frequent memories are of Dave and I either arguing or laughing. Dave was always pranking me and I was always a good target who never caught on. I trumped him only once and it was a good one, I told him we had been given direction to draft a report on the implications of the closing of Vic Pool and it was due in 1.5 days. I assigned it to him and after a bit of arguing he spent the next day and half writing the report behind closed doors. He came into my office mid morning on the due date and handed it to me. Everybody in the office was aware of what he had been asked to do so were all paying attention and burst out laughing after I had given the report a cursory glance and said to Dave thanks and by the way April Fools.
I must say he could dish it out but he was also very gracious when on the receiving end of jokes. We had a lot fun whilst doing a good job.
My sincere condolences to Dave’s family, rest in peace my friend.
Carmen and family , so sorry for your loss. Dave and I worked together for close to forty years . He was kind , funny , smart and a devoted public servant . He will be missed

To Dave’s wonderful family,
I was graciously invited to sit in on Dave’s interview when Hockey Edmonton hired him about 8 years or so ago. Dave was the City of Edmonton import that came in with a lifetime of experience. Sure enough, he brought expertise to the fold and we never looked back. Our conversations and discussions were always fruitful, solution oriented and there was always a dream wish list. We were going to embark on more grandiose ideas as thinking big never phased him. Unfortunately, we postponed meeting last Christmas, then Minor Hockey Week and playoffs put off our coffee chat. We are destined to meet, only not as planned. Thank-you immensely Dave, for going above and beyond. May you rest and be peaceful.
