Peter Gordon Lister
October 3, 1971 – August 6, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Peter “Pete” Gordon Lister, who passed away on August 6, 2026, at the age of 54, following a brief and unexpected illness.
Pete was born in Edmonton and spent most of his life there, apart from five years living on Vancouver Island. Edmonton was always home to Pete, but most recently, home was Sherwood Park, Alberta, where he shared his life with his partner, Jocelyn Fownes, and her three children, Sophia, Maisy, and Levi, each of whom held a very special place in his heart.
Left to cherish his memory and carry on his spirit are his sister, Kathy (Shayne); his brothers, Colin (Amy) and Scott; his half-sister, Paula (Andy); his nieces, Taylor (Tyler), Lauren, and Ivy; his nephew, Nathan; his great-nephew, Baylee; his Auntie Carol; his Uncle Eddy (Diane); numerous cousins; and literally hundreds of friends, all of whom Pete considered family.
Pete was predeceased by his loving mother, Susan, and his father, Peter Sr., whom he missed every day. There is comfort in knowing that they are now reunited and that Pete is once again in their loving arms.
While we could tell you about the jobs Pete had, the places he worked and travelled, the schools he attended, and the many skills he mastered, what is most fitting is to remember the hundreds of lifelong friendships he made along the way.
Pete was naturally skilled at nearly everything he tried, but above all else, he was a true people person. He loved nature and the outdoors, animals, and new adventures. He loved to fish and camp and was always happiest when surrounded by people—especially sitting outdoors around a fire, laughing with family and friends, and telling stories, both old and new.
Pete had a remarkable gift for connecting with people and staying connected throughout the years. To Pete, friends were family. He would do anything for the people he loved, and if a stranger was in need, Pete would have gladly given them the shirt off his back.
He possessed a deep love for life, a soul filled with passion, and a heart that loved fully and unconditionally. He lived with generosity, loyalty, humor, and an openness that drew people to him. To know Pete was to know that there was always room for one more person around the fire.
Pete was a true gift to this world. He was deeply loved, and he will be profoundly missed by all whose lives he touched.

Best of the best sadly missed Lana D
