Donna Sylvia MacTAGGART

It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Donna Sylvia MacTaggart (nee Marshall), who passed away peacefully at the age of 84 years at the Leduc Community Hospital on January 13, 2024.  She was surrounded by loved ones after a strong battle of health conditions and fought her absolute best to the very end.  Donna will be forever remembered by her daughter Heather (Alex) Gorodetsky, grandchildren Maria and Ethan Gorodetsky, son Cory (Dean) MacTaggart, sister-in-law Mary MacTaggart, sister Kay Rubenok with niece Tracie (Paul) Sissons, along with numerous other close nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Donna was married to her late husband, Garnet, for 51 years before his passing in 2019.  She was a personnel administration officer for the Government of Alberta for over 15 years before raising her children and then working at the Treasure Barrel, Tin Box, and Soulminders on Whyte Avenue.  Donna was a lifelong Oilers fan and enjoyed gardening, baking, and spending time on her acreage in Ellerslie with her loving family and dogs.  She will be remembered for her kindness, elegance, thoughtfulness, and love.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 20 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at 5104 Ellerslie Road SW with viewing at 1:00 PM, service at 2:00 PM, with interment to follow at South Haven Municipal Cemetery.

Our family sincerely thanks Dr. Anne Sepanmaa-Lund and Janice McNeil, R.N., for their years of constant care for Donna, along with the Leduc medical staff, especially Dr. Justin Balko, who helped Donna in her final days.

If friends so desire, donations to the Leduc Community Hospital in memory of Donna would be greatly appreciated.

Heather and Cory, the funeral service for your Mom was so moving. She was truly loved by many. Donna was such a loving and caring person and I feel blessed to have known both your Mom and Dad as well as both of you as we all grew up in the same neighborhood. I am sorry that I was not able to stay to talk to you after the service. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
