Grace MANULAK (nee Huxley)
God called our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, auntie and friend, Grace Manulak to her journey home on May 30, 2024 at the age of 93.
Grace is now reunited with her husband of 62 years Clarence Manulak, daughter Catherine Penner, her parents Albert and Olive Huxley, five sisters and four brothers.
Left with a lifetime of memories, daughter Patricia Powell (Warren), granddaughter Marina Thauvette (Marc) great grandchildren, Mia and Mateo Thauvette, step grandsons Sean and Jesse Powell (Scarlet), son-in-law Roger Penner. Grace’s sister Doreen Hope (Cliff) and sisters in-law Paulette Huxley, Leona Huxley, Dorothy Manulak, Stella Lytle, Jean Campbell (Frank) and multitude of nieces and nephews all across Canada.
Grace was a devoted, wife and mother leaving behind unforgettable memories. Her pleasant smile and presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to have known her. Grace was born December 15, 1930 on the family farm near Maidstone, Saskatchewan. She was the 8th of 11 children. Grace loved the outdoors and often talked about her farm, cattle and horseback riding. Grace was an independent person who in her early years met many people and developed many long-term friendships. Grace and Clarence raised their two daughters in Edmonton. She worked for Southgate Woodwards 18 years and retired to enjoy many years of travelling. Their favourite place was warm and sunny Palm Springs, California where they often travelled for the winter with one of their many airstream trailers they owned over the years. Grace treasured family get togethers and loved cooking. She was a fantastic cook and baker; even making whole Ukraine meals from scratch.
Grace enjoyed traveling, gardening, animals, music, antiques, nature walks, curling at the Officers Mess and watching sporting events on TV including hockey and football. She attended many of her daughter’s and granddaughters’ softball games with encouragement and enthusiasm. Grace loved family and friends unconditionally, always looking for the good in everyone. A very special thank you to all staff at Edmonton Grandview long-term care for her compassionate care she received as a resident there for the past 17 months. We find comfort knowing she is at peace. Her final resting place is Rosehill Cemetery in Edmonton, Alberta.

Our condolences to the family with Auntie Graces passing.
