Forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
Rest easy, Johnny.

A wonderful man and father. Our condolences to all the family.
A legend in my mind for sure. I don’t think it’s possible to find a more caring, kind and thoughtful person anywhere. He righteously led his family through the years as great fathers do. John was lucky to have found Diane and she him. It was a relationship to admire. I could never forget the evenings at the fire pit sharing laughs and stories that got better all the time. Some centred around uncle Al (not AI). John I hope you have found peace and contentment in heaven as you brought the light to so many lives.
Forever remembered
God’s blessings good man!
Dear Diane and family, my deepest and most sincere condolences for the passing of a dear and good man John.
May he rest on peace.
Buba and the kids.
Dear Diane and Family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I remember the fun times we had when our two families gathered together on Humboldt Avenue in Winnipeg. Although I hadn’t seen John for many years, I am so happy I was able to have our telephone conversation together a year or so ago. I always looked up to my older cousin and thought of him fondly. He was such a kind person. RIP John
So sorry to hear of Johns passing. I remember all the times we spent together. Both John and I went to go to Glenlawn at the same time and suffered teasing about Johns little cousin.but we survived. Rest easy John
We first met John on his wedding day in Winnipeg. He was marrying my long-time best friend, Diane It was the start of our happy half-century friendship.
Even though we lived in Victoria, our families stayed close. We were interested in hearing of John,s next project and always looked forward to John & Diane,s visits.
Darryl & I are remembering our wonderful trips together, Tuscany, Croatia, Palm Springs, such good ,fun memories of John.
We were saddened to hear of John,s health issues, but will always remember John as the positive, gentle, caring family man.
Deepest sympathy to Diane, Karey, Cathy & David and the lovely McClure family.
Love Darryl& Suz.
Diane and I met when we both entered tenth grade. When Jerry brought John home for dinner one night, I knew right away that this was the guy for Diane. Clearly I was right. They were Godparents to one of our children (2 for Di) and we were in one anthers’wedding parties. Though separated by distance when they relocated, we remained close and interested in their lives. I loved John’s sense of humour and quick wit. Mostly, I admired and appreciated his steadfast love and support for his wife and children. How fortunate you all were to have had him. We send the collective sympathies and love of our family to yours Your Winnipeg family, The Surbeys BFF
