Deborah Lucy MCDEVITT

It is with overwhelming sadness that the family of Deborah Lucy McDevitt (Cross) announce her passing on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Capital Care Norwood Hospice at the age of 68.

Debbie was a devoted wife, mother, nana, daughter, sister, and friend whose kindness, generosity, and loyalty touched the lives of so many people around her. She had a natural way of caring for others, often showing her love through the things she did for them, whether she was baking something, knitting a thoughtful gift, or simply making sure the people she loved were taken care of. Debbie found great joy in giving to others.

She cherished the time she spent with her grandsons, Liam and Lane, who brought tremendous joy to her life. Her family was at the heart of everything she did, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Debbie took great pride in her career, including many years as a manager with Sears and other furniture and appliance stores. Throughout her career, she formed many lasting friendships and connections that continued long after her working years.

Debbie will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Ray; her daughters, Amanda and Krissy; her grandsons, Liam and Lane; her sister, Rosie (Bob) Hobbs; her brother, Jim (Tracy) Cross; her mother, Wavey Cross; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was predeceased by her father, Melvin Cross, in May 2026.

Debbie spent her final days surrounded by her husband Ray, family and loved ones and passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. Her family is grateful for the care and compassion she received at Capital Care Norwood Hospice.

She will be remembered always for the love, warmth, generosity, and care she gave so freely to the people around her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenfield Community League, 3803-114 Street NW and Interment will take place at a later date.
