Shawn David Allan MCKAY

It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the sudden passing of our beloved son Shawn David Allan McKay of Edmonton, Alberta, on February 2nd, 2025.

Shawn is deeply mourned by his loving mom, Debbie McKay of Stettler, Alberta, his dad Ken McKay of Dauphin, Manitoba, and his brother Christopher McKay of Edmonton. He is also lovingly remembered by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews from Williams Lake, B.C, Cranbrook, B.C, Edmonton, AB, Yorkton, SK, Barrie, ON, Dauphin, MB and Winnipeg, MB.

Shawn was born August 24, 1983, in Edmonton, Alberta. He went to school in our community of Callingwood and Lessard. From the get-go Shawn was a very active individual. He excelled in school, whether it was his studies, gym, or playing football. He created beautiful artworks, and had a love for music, computers, and Tae Kwon Do. Shawn was a big part of his family’s tree business and took pride in daily operations. Shawn continued as an entrepreneur which included carpentry, reclamation work and landscaping.

Shawn’s love of community was his passion in life. He wore his heart on his sleeve and enriched and impacted countless lives with friendship, compassion and love. He would give what he had if it meant enriching someone else’s life. His community all embraced him for his beautiful, caring spirit and are saddened to hear of his passing.

With Eternal Love, “Forever in our hearts Shawn, we will miss your beautiful light!”

Bible Reflection – 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
