Vincent Paul McLAREN

In loving memory of Vincent Paul McLaren, born on June 23, 1962 in Cobourg, Ontario.

On the morning of Monday December 4, 2023, at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, surrounded by his loved ones, Paul peacefully passed away at the age of 61.

Throughout his final weeks, he was visited frequently by many of his friends and family; a testament to the impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him. Survived by his beloved wife, Cindy; their children, Heather and Adam; his younger brother, Christopher (Nancy); and stepfather Earl. Paul’s legacy lives on in the memories of all those who remain. He joins those who preceded him in passing: his mother, Irene (Earl); father, Thomas; sister, Connie and partner Garnet; brother, Leslie (Sophia); and many others who were an important part of his life.

From an early age Paul was an inquisitive, brilliant soul who always marched to the beat of his own drum. In his teenage years, Paul eventually found the craft of upholstery – a craft that captured his interest and allowed him to express his creativity and skills. This field afforded him many opportunities that would see him travelling the world and performing work that spanned from cruise ships to airplanes and everything in between.

Paul fell in love with, and eventually married his wife Cindy in 1992, joyfully embracing fatherhood with her son, Adam. A year later, in 1993, their family grew with the arrival of their daughter, his newest fishing buddy, Heather. Paul found joy in family nights spent together playing games and sharing stories along with his favourite music.

With the help of a special friend Ray, and Paul’s passion for the outdoors and fishing, he landed a once in a life time position as a fishing guide in northern Canada at Plummer’s Lodge, where he had the opportunity to experience some of the best fishing and share his greatest joy with others. Over the years, he continued to enjoy many adventures with his life-long fishing friends and family.

His love of connection eventually took him into sales, where he excelled with his interest in people, and his natural ability to leave a lasting positive impression. His genuine approach and friendly demeanor made him more than just a salesman, forming special friendships with countless clients and coworkers along the way.

As we say our goodbyes, let’s celebrate Paul’s legacy of love, laughter, and the vast array of connections he made throughout his remarkable journey. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal embrace of those who went before him, leaving behind cherished memories for those who carry his spirit close to their hearts.

To honour Paul’s wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of Paul’s life will be announced at a later date, providing an opportunity for family and friends to come together in remembrance and honor the wonderful person he was and the life he lived.
