Bonnie Heather McTavish (nee Beecroft)
1944 – 2025

Mom fought a 10-year lung cancer battle with grit, determination & an unstoppable mindset of “mind over matter”. She defied the odds! In the early hours of January 30th, 2025, mum finally found peace.

Bonnie was born in 1944 to Kenneth (Ken) & Yvonne Beecroft in Edmonton, Alberta.  She is predeceased by her parents, and in 2021, her high school sweetheart and lifelong love of 54 years, Wayne McTavish. We have no doubts that dad was there to welcome her home.

She will be lovingly missed by many friends & family members, including her daughters Susan (Michael), Stacey (Guy); grandchildren Alex(18), Emily(17), Jack(16) & Samantha (14); big sister Lynne Petherbridge, little brother David Beecroft; Sister-in-laws, Nelda Beecroft & Margaret Nelson (Don McTavish, deceased); brother-in-law Jerald (Jerry) Petherbridge, plus many nieces & nephews.

Mom & dad married in 1967.  After trying for a few years to have a child, they decided to see the world and planned a move to Australia. Not long before leaving, there was a big surprise, they were pregnant! We hope that mom and dad are now on a great adventure, exploring the world together.

Mom will be remembered for her unwavering love of her family, her never-ending well of energy, her immense pride of having a beautifully mowed lawn, and her very strong opinions on politics. She missed her calling!

At her request, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Palliative Care Unit 43 at the Grey Nuns Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.
