Don was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and was raised on the Millhouse family farm near Cut Knife, Saskatchewan. From a young age, he developed a deep love for farming and especially for cattle. He worked alongside his family on the farm before setting out to build a life as an entrepreneur, trying his hand at many different businesses throughout the years.
On January 20, 1983, Don married the love of his life, Shannon. Together they returned to the family farm near Cut Knife, where they enjoyed raising cows, pigs, chickens, horses, and other farm animals. Later, Don entered the hotel business, a venture that took him to several communities throughout Saskatchewan. His final business venture brought him to Ashmont, Alberta, where he found the place he would proudly call home.
Don had a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The unmistakable rumble of their engines and seeing rows of bikes lined along the streets always brought a smile to his face. He loved visiting with people, making friends wherever he went, and was known for his kind heart, hardworking spirit, and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Don touched the lives of many and will be remembered for his generosity, sense of humour, determination, and the love he had for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Melissa from Home Care and Stacey for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided to Don during his final days. Your dedication and comfort meant more than words can express.
