Christine Jane NICHIPORIK
On August 13, 2025, our beloved Chris peacefully fell asleep in the Lord at the age of 73 years.
Born on March 4, 1952, in the village of Vilna where she completed most of her schooling, Chris graduated from the University of Alberta in 1974 with a BSc in Pharmacy. She lived her life with a joyful, welcoming heart, genuine kindness and unwavering faith.
Chris will be forever loved and missed by her husband of 50 years, David; her cherished daughter, Kellie (Steve Hawryliw); sisters, Marie Anna Shysh & Caroline (John) Yewchin; brother-in-law, Robert Winnick; niece Julie Waschuk; & Godsons, Greg Nichiporik & Eric Pruden. Chris will also be remembered by her extended family, Harry (Mary) Nichiporik, Esther Nichiporik, Maralynn Chapman, Phyllis Soldan, Bruce (Joan) Nichiporik, numerous nieces and nephews and her Orthodox Church family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Katie & Steve Elaschuk; sister, Melvina Winnick, & brother-in-law, Michael Shysh.
Chris was a light that shone brightly in our lives & in those she touched. Our love will continue to live on when we speak her name, share her stories, continue family traditions and keep our faith.
Funeral Rite, Saturday, August 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Anthony, 6103 – 172 St., Edmonton, AB. Reverend Fr. Dr. Timothy Chrapko officiating with interment taking place on Monday August 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Rosehill Cemetery.
