Gene Wilfred Nickel age 70, passed away Sunday October 8th, 2023 In Edmonton Alberta. Gene was born in Thunder Bay Ontario but lived most of his life in Edmonton, Alberta. Gene is predeceased by his partner Linda Ruddy.

He is survived by his Mother Kathleen Gilgan, Brothers Arthur Nickel, Joseph Nickel and Richard Nickel, Children: Christopher Nickel (Chrissy), Joshua Nickel (Tracy) and Kaitlyn Unruh (Noel) and his 9 grandchildren: Eric Wicks, Stephanie Wicks, Brett Wicks, Edward Nickel, Lee Nickel, Jack Unruh, Kraven Unruh, Julia Nickel, Carera Unruh and his great granddaughter Aubrey Sanders and as well as all those who remember this loving, caring and gentle man. We will remember his kind words, his warm hugs and his love and compassion that he shared with everyone that he met. Gene had many roles and jobs in his life but his favourite by far was being a grandpa. 

His celebration of life will be held at the PERC building in Stony Plain, Alberta (5413 51 street Stony Plain) at 3:30 pm till 6pm Saturday October 14, 2023. 

We will have light refreshments and playing cards and crib boards for those who wish to play his favourite game.
