Lawrence Paul OLSEN

It is with sadness that we share the news of the passing of Lawrence Paul Olsen on June 5, 2022. He was surrounded in his last days by his family and left in peace and without pain. He is now with his Creator and surrounded with the love of his family, friends, and teachers who have crossed before him. This includes his mother Anna Olsen (nee Dumont), father Harry Olsen, brother Maurice Olsen, brother-in-law Wayne Brent, as well as Jamie Ward and Ron Paquette. Also waiting for him were Elder George Brertton, Elder Henry Sauvee and Elder Jerry Wood.

A deeply spiritual and creative person and loving family man, Lawrence is survived and mourned by his wife and best friend of 49 years, Cindy; his son Leckie and daughter-in-law Liz; his daughter Stephanie and her partner Alex Howard; his granddaughter Ember Rose; his brothers Eugene (Irene), Rolly, and Clifford Olsen; and his sister Marlene Brent. He was a caring foster parent to Wayne, Ronnie, and many others. He is also dearly missed by his cat, Montgomery.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 11.00 AM at St Clare Parish, 6310 118 Ave, Edmonton, AB. A boxed lunch will be provided to everyone at the end of the mass. Please dress for your comfort; however, the family requests that all guests wear a mask while in the church.

Those who wish to attend the burial are invited to meet at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Cemetery at 57202 Range Rd. 25, Glenevis, AB at 2:30 p.m. The burial will be followed by a box picnic. Lawrence always did love a picnic. All who wish to attend to honour Lawrence are welcome.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the hospice nurses at the Grey Nuns Hospital, Dr Butts, Dr Aung, Elder Bernie Makokis, Elder Gisele Wood, Home Palliative Care Team, and all the caring and wonderful people that have shared this journey with us. Special thanks to Archbishop Sylvain Lavoie and Star of the North Retreat for their support and the Aurora Living Program which kept us engaged in spirit.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lawrence’s honour may be made directly to Wellspring Edmonton, the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, Edmonton Catholic School Foundation or a charity of your choice.

Our most sincere condolences to Stephanie and the entire family, the passing of our parents is always difficult. Did not get to meet Lawrence after cancelling an Edmonton trip during covid, saddened for that.
